Troubleshooting No Lights or Output on Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller

Question:
So I have power to the controller and power in my plug but the light doesnt come on even if I manually pinch it. Then should I have a constant 12V heading towards the back even if my vehicle is off? My truck is a 2008 F150

In a typical 7-way trailer connector the trailer 12V auxiliary power feed, usually carried on the socket contact at the 1-o-clock position (please see photo), can be ignition-key-controlled or it can be a direct feed from the battery, passing only through a circuit breaker. In this second set-up the power will be sent to the trailer socket at all times. It depends on the 7-way installation.
If your brake controller is receiving 12V input power on its black wire but will not light up at all then it could be damaged internally. If it does nothing when you press the manual override - no lights and no output on the 7-way's brake circuit - then it is likely to be damaged.
