Trimming/Removing Bumper Cover to Install Curt Class I Receiver Part # C11068 on 2009 Infiniti G37

Question:
Is it really necessary to remove the back bumper surrounds to install this hitch? Will the holes you cut into it after you remove the license place be enough area for you to work in to install the hitch?

I spoke with one of my contacts at Curt Manufacturing, and was told that cutting the access slot behind the license plate would be sufficient. It is an either/or type of proposition. Some are not comfortable with the idea of cutting holes in the bumper cover even though those holes are concealed by the license plate, which is why the option of removing the bumper cover is available.
