Updated 02/20/2017 | Published 02/17/2017

Question:

i had a curtis 118392 on my 2009 2500 chevy express van. i am installing a hopkins 31345 and removing the curtis. i am installing a hopkins etbc7 and tekonsha p3. i have taken out the curtis replaced it with the hopkins but i noticed that there was a wiring difference on the the connectors one more wire and the ground wire was going to both sides of the connecter on the passenger side. i have installed the etbc7 4- 7 part and hopkins. i have not hook the to power yet so i wanted to test brake, lights, turn signals on van to see if they worked. driver side works ,passenger sides lights tail lights work but no brake or turn. do i need to hook to power first or should they work with out . when i had just the curtis hooked up everything work. before i hooked up to battery i wanted to ask thanks

When you are going to test all the functions you will need the motor running so you can make sure everything is installed properly.

There is only one ground wire needed when installing this harness. The ground wire you found should have a ring terminal on it and it provides the ground for the converter so that is all you need.

I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring needs to be run when installing the # ETBC7 and a Brake Controller like part # 90195.
