Is this hitch cover base made of metal? Not interested in one made of plastic. Do the colors fade with time? Total price including shipping please. Christmas gift for my son who is an alumni. Thank you,

The entire Auburn Hitch Cover part # AMG100062 is made of steel. Even the portion that slides into the trailer hitch. Any color will fade with enough exposure to the sun, but it would take quite a bit of time for that to happen with the # AMG100062.
