Recommended Grille Guard For 2012 Ram 1500 Sport

Question:
Hello, I have a 2012 Ram 1500 sport. I noticed it says in the description of the product that it will not fit sport models. Is this due to the sport model not having tow hooks and the black plastic where the hooks are on other models? Would trimming the fascia/plastic allow for the grille guard to fit?

I called my contact at Westin about your 2012 Ram 1500 Sport. They told me the problem with the Sport model is that the bumper is entirely enclosed and has no entry needed for the HDX grille guard to install. We do have an option for you.
I recommend the Westin Sportsman Grille Guard, part # 40-3545. This will work on your truck if it does not have Adaptive Cruise Control or collision warning systems with grille mounted laser control sensors.
