What is the Maximum Speed Rating for Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains
Published 10/12/2016 >
Question:
I have a 2006 Ford Mustang and am looking for some extra help this winter. I live in Iowa and winters can get pretty bad. I want a product that is easy to install on the go and can perform. The wheels and tires i have on my car are aftermarket 285/35r19. I have a 30 mile drive each way so need something that i can travel at normal speeds or close to it. So i was wondering what the max speed rating was on these chains and what kind of ride can i expect?

The recommended maximum speed rating for the Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains # TH2004205117 is 30-40 mph. This is fairly standard for tire chains.
With your aftermarket tires these chains are going to be your best bet since they only require 9 mm of clearance between the tires and your 2006 Ford Mustang. You're going to want to make sure you have the space before purchasing anything.
Also, be sure to consult the vehicle owner's manual for specific information on the use of chains on your vehicle. It is not recommended by some manufacturers to use chains of any kind of on some vehicles. I have also included a link to our informational article on tire chains for you.
