You can install a brake controller like the Hayes Engage # HA81760 in your 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe using their wiring adapter # HA81789-HBC. You will also need our trailer brake controller installation kit # ETBC7 to complete your hardwired installation.
So long as the Tahoe already has a 4-pole flat type trailer connector only the above items are needed, but if you do not have a 4-pole already you can use part # C55319.
