Question:
If I run the brake light wire off of the left or right brake light, the third light flashes when that turn signal is applied

The Tow Ready Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter will eliminate the problem that you're experiencing. Since your vehicle's wiring combines the brake light and turn signals, you will want to install part # 118158.
Start by grounding the white wire on the input side of the converter. Splice the green wire into your right turn circuit and the yellow input wire on the left. You can cap off the yellow and green wires on the output side for this application because they're not needed. The red wire connects to your camper shell's third brake light.
I have included a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring.
