Hello! I have a 2001 Chevy S-10 2-door Pick-up with a 6foot bed with spray-on x-liner and a naked roof. I am looking for an over-the-bed rack system to hold two 12foot kayaks weighing 40-50 lbs each. I would like to still have access to the tailgate and bed for packing other camp gear, tolls, plants, etc. Can you recommend a rack set-up that is highway-safe and that can be installed by an average person with regular household tools? For carrying your 2 kayaks the Yakima Outdoorsman 300 part # Y01136-Y00409 that you referenced would be a great option. It is confirmed to fit your 2001 Chevy S-10, has more than enough capacity for your kayaks as it has a 300 lb capacity and will install easily.
It also will free up your truck bed for other cargo as well.
