Question:

I purchased a drawtite hitch for a 1995 buick Riviera and I already had a draw bar ballmount and I am unable to make it fit. is this design have a tappered draw opening. and if so what ballmount will work for the class 2hitch

I am not sure which draw bar you have, but the recommended draw bar for your vehicle and trailer hitch is the Class II Draw bar 3-1/8 inch Rise, part # 36061. None of the hitches or draw bars we carry have tapered receivers or shanks, so the only thing I can think of is that you have a Class 1 hitch and a Class 2 draw bar which are not compatible with each other even though they have the same 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch shank.

The Class 2 shank will not fit in a Class 1 hitch, but a class 1 shank will work in a Class 2 hitch, provided you take tongue weight and gross trailer weight into consideration.
