Question:
https://www.etrailer.com/question-154605.html The link above sort of addressed a question I have. I too have 2016 Mustang Fastback and want to install a bike rack probably the Swagman XTC2 that was recommended. Why does the Curt hitch require a stabilizer strap and the Draw-Tite does not? I dont see that anywhere in the description, is it just your experience with these two bars that the Draw-Tite is much stiffer? I ask only because the Curt is a much more aesthetically pleasing hitch, but if the functionality is that much greater on the Draw-Tite, thats what Ill do. Thanks!

Curt hitches that are lower in capacity have the stabilizer strap recommendation because they just happen to be more cautious than Draw Tite and Hidden Hitch. By no means are they made lower quality. The USA-made Curt hitches are great and work well. But it is pretty annoying to have to use the stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using a bike rack like the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670 that you are interested. On a brand new Mustang I wouldn't want the metal hook touching the painted surface of the trunk.
Since the Draw Tite # 24928 is priced the best, and doesn't require the stabilizer strap it would be what I would recommend from an economical and functional point of view. If you really like the look of the Curt # C11405 it would still work great you would have to use the strap.
