Selecting Correct Ball Mount for Use with Class II Hitch on 2010 Dodge Avenger
Question:
How do I know what height drawbar to get and what length? They have different heights and different lengths. Do you have to measure to see which one to use?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Your 2010 Dodge Avenger can be fitted with either a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch like Draw-Tite # 24871 or a higher-capacity Class II type like # 36448. If you have a Class I hitch you need to use the recommended ball mount shown on the hitch page, but if you have a Class II hitch like # 36448 you can select a compatible Class II ball mount with the specific amount of height rise or drop you need to keep the hitched trailer level and with the length you need for good clearance between the Avenger and trailer.
Please refer to the linked article on ball mounts for an easy explanation of how to measure rise or drop needed. You can then click on the link for Class II ball mounts to see all options.
Just click on the rise or drop you need and then select the length of ball mount using the filters on the page. For example, if you need 4-inches of rise and want an extra-long ball mount for clearance you could use # C45000 which is rated for 3500-lbs like the Class II hitches. Select a hitch ball with the required shank diameter to fit this ball mount (3/4-inch) and with a ball size to match your trailer's coupler, such as 2-inch ball # A-82.
