Does Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System HT32218 Allow Backing Up Trailer

Question:
I am interested in this system but I am concerned about backing up with this system. Can I do what is necessary to back up into a camping spot or other tight situation without taking off the stabilizing bars?

You do not need to remove the spring bars of the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System # HT32218 when you back up the trailer. Disconnecting sway control is necessary only when you are using a basic friction style sway unit like # 83660. Such friction sway control devices can be damaged if left in place when you reverse. Because the Husky Center Line uses sway control that is built into it's head unit, there's no issue backing up.
A weight distribution system should be chosen based on your fully-loaded trailer's measured tongue weight (TW). There are several ways to measure this (please see the linked article) but the easiest one is a scale like part # C51701. To your fully-loaded trailer TW you will add the weight of anything that sits in the truck bed behind the rear axle, such as a loaded cooler.
With this total TW figure you can choose a system rated high enough to shift some TW forward onto the front axle, but without being so stiff that it creates weird handling from the trailer.
Ideally your total TW will fall right near the middle of the operating range for your system. The Husky # HT32218 works with TW from 800 to 1200-lbs meaning that an actual TW of 1000-lbs would be ideal.
