If your 2006 Toyota Tundra had a factory-installed 7-way trailer socket that needs replacement I recommend the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM43385. This plugs in to the factory wiring using two connectors; the mating connectors on the Hopkins part are shown in the linked photo.

If your truck instead happens to have a round U.S. Car Connector at the rear bumper then I suggest instead Pollak part # PK11893 which will plug in to that connector.

There should be small tabs on each of the factory plugs/connectors that allow you to release the harness. You'll push down on them and pull the plug out. Just let me know if you continue to have issues.
