The only time you should have to re-pair is RF Brake Controller would be when you wanted to put it on another vehicle.

The RF controller should be able to be paired with a trailer and stay paired once set. I have heard of some cases of having to re-pair after long periods between uses and vehicles with LED tail lights may not supply enough voltage for pairing. But you shouldn't have to re-pair each time you unhook and hook up.
