Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessories Recommendation for 2006 Ford Freestar

Published 09/26/2015

Question:

Im shopping for a hitch for my 2006 Ford Freestar. I dont see any significant differences between Code: 75158 and Code: 87107 What are the benefits of each hitch? My primary use will be pulling an open utility trailer and occasionally towing a vehicle on a rented tow dolly.

The Draw-Tite Class III # 75158 and the Hidden Hitch # 87107 were both manufactured by the same parent company, Cequent Performance Products. The manufacturer has since discontinued the Hidden Hitch option. The Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch were nearly identical items. The only difference between the two was the label with the brand name.

Since you'll be towing with the hitch, you might be interested in the following to complete your towing system:

-Trailer wiring harness, part # C56673 if your Freestar has the connector behind the rear bumper (see provided photo).
-Ball mount, part # 2753
-1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19260 or 2 inch trailer ball, part # 63845

I've linked you to install videos for the hitch and the wiring harnesses.
