Question:
On my 2006 Ford F350, I get a TBC Fault display which can be tuned off by the reset button. I get a U1900 code which can be anything. I do not get a C8200 code so I assume my transducer is good. I pulled the factory trailer brake controller and checked the voltage at the plug. I have 12V constant on the 12GA red wire with the engine off or running. The white ground wire is good. The voltage on the green wire increases as the pedal pressure is increased up to 12V. The 12GA blue wire reads around .29V and increases very erratically and stops at 1V as I increase pressure. Wires are all good to the factory 7 pin plug. The trailer brakes do not work at all even with the manual slide switch on the controller. Im not convinced this is a problem with the controller. If I did replace it with the Prodigy P3 controller, I assume Ill have an ugly hole where the controller and the 4 switches reside now. Will the P3 fit in the hole? If you are puzzled by this problem as I am, I might take it to Ford and see if they can diagnose it. By the way, my truck only has 24,000 miles on it even if its a 2006.

From my research the U1900 error code you are getting is either a short in the wiring or a problem with the brake controller itself. I was unable to find the TBC display you described. The references I found were for Trailer Brake Controller. Since it sounds like you have checked the wiring and finding that you are not getting sufficient current and the brakes are not working at all, you may want to check with the Ford dealership as you said and see if they can isolate the problem.
As far as removing the factory brake controller and replacing it with a Prodigy P3, part # 90195, the P3 would not be a perfect fit in the hole left by removing the OEM controller. You may be able to fabricate something that will work but we do not offer a bracket or kit that will give it the factory look.
To make it easier to install the brake controller in your 2006 F-350, you can use the Plug-In Adapter, part # 3065-P. One end plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end simply plugs into the brake controller port located under the dash.
