Question:
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup 4WD.I would like to install a 2500 lb. Capacity winch. I have a deep cycle battery in my camper for the running lights, etc. and a factory 7 way connector. Would you recommend I use the truck battery or the marine? And whats up with the reversed wiring polarity on the camper battery? Should the red and black wires be transposed - - really? This does work, but I dont know how. Thanks for your help.

You can wire the winch up to either the truck battery or the trailer battery. If the plan is to use the winch on the vehicle then I would wire it there. If the winch is for the trailer then powering off the trailer battery would also work. But you will need to charge the battery more frequently.
As long as you know which wire is positive and negative you should be just fine. I wouldn't get too hung up on the colors of the wires as they aren't always consistent.
For a winch you could use the Superwinch part # SW1130220 that has a 3k capacity and then for a wiring kit for your truck part # BDW20043.
