Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1994 Ford Mustang GT

Updated 07/07/2015 | Published 07/06/2015

Question:

I have a 1994 Mustang GT original owner I am considering setting it up to tow behind my 34foot Palazzo Freightliner chassis. I want base plates that are mostly hidden. Picture shows tow bar connections sticking out. Are they removable? Can you send me a link to the installation guide for these base plates? Also can you recommend a complete list of things Ill need for both the RV and my Mustang. Tow bar, breaks, wiring harness etc.

For a base plate kit for your 1994 Ford Mustang GT you would want the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX2649. When the removable arms aren't inserted into the kit they would be largely out of plain sight. Check out the picture I attached to see what that would look like. I also attached a link to the install instructions for you to check out as well.

For a tow bar the Blue Ox Avail part # BX7420 would be a great option as it is one of the nicest setups around. This also includes safety chains.

For lighting you can use the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155, and not have to worry about cutting and splicing into the vehicle wiring.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the two vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
