Hello, I have currently have steel rims on my popup trailer, identical to these: AM3H410 I have over 4 inches of wheel well clearance and I would like to replace these wheels with these: AM31208 I noticed that the aluminum rims have recessed lug holes. I currently have lug bolts and that will be a problem because the lug wrench will not fit into the rim holes and the lug bolt heads will not extend out far enough. Are there lug bolts with longer heads? Can I convert my hubs to use lug nut studs? If so which ones do I need? What are my options? Thank you!

Your best option would be to find a lug wrench that has a narrower head so that it can fit into the recessed bolt holes of the # AM31208. Something like the part # PTW1 would work great as it would have no problem fitting into the wheel holes of the rim.

In order to pick out the correct hub assembly for a trailer you are going to need know a few key pieces of information. The first thing you will need to know is the bolt pattern of your hubs. This is so you get a hub that is compatible with your wheels. I attached an FAQ article on determining bolt pattern for you to check out.

Next thing you will need to know is what spindle you have on your trailer. In order to do that you can either get the inner and outer bearing numbers from a hub or use a dial or digital caliper to get exact measurements of the spindle. The measurements needed are the parts of the spindle where the bearings ride.

You would want to first select the bolt pattern that you have, next select the inner bearing you have, followed by selecting your outer bearing, and then all the correct hubs will be listed.
