The only ways to obtain a reverse light signal to activate a backup camera like # HM50002 are to tap into the reverse light wire at one of the tail light assemblies, or if you happen to have a 7-way trailer connector on the vehicle, tap in to the reverse light signal wire that feeds the pin on the connector.
Please refer to the linked photo of a 7-way vehicle socket. The center pin carries the reverse light signal in most typical applications.
It is not difficult to tap into the reverse wire. Just use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to identify the wire that carries the reverse signal (while a competent helper puts the car in reverse with the brake and emergency brake engaged for safety). Cut the wire and splice in a new length of wire using a butt connector such as # DW05714. Route that new wire to your backup camera.
