Unfortunately, according to my contacts at Pilot, the Integrated OEM Tailgate Lock, part # LH-003 will not fit a 2004 Chevy Avalanche.
However, we do have an available solution for you. BOLT offers the # BL5922987 that has a lock cylinder that you permanently 'code' to your ignition key. You'll install the locking handle, insert your ignition key, turn the key once and the lock will be keyed to match your ignition key. Pretty cool stuff!
BOLT also offers other locks that can be keyed to match your ignition key:

Trailer coupler lock, part # BL7025284
