Locating Trailer Running Light Fuse

Where is fuse for trailer running lights located

Expert Reply:

The fuse box location and the actual spot in the fuse box where the running light fuse is located will depend on the year, make and model of your vehicle.

You can usually find the main fuse box under the hood. Your owner's manual should tell you where the fuse box is located and where in particular you can find the running lamp fuse.

All this being said, you'll want to make sure the wiring on the trailer is in good shape before you start changing fuses. If there's a short circuit in the trailer wiring, you'll keep blowing fuses each time you turn the running lights on.

Begin at the trailer connector and examine it for damage. Trace the running light circuit back from the connector to the lamps (running light circuit is usually a brown wire.) Look for pinched wires or wires with worn or cracked insulation that would allow the copper wire to short out on the trailer frame. Check the lamps themselves for loose bulbs or rusty bulb sockets.
