Towing 2014 Ford Fusion on Tow Dolly and Tire Straps Are Very Close to Suspension

Question:
We have a Chrysler Town and Country that we towed on a dolly once. The strap was so close to the suspension it rubbed through and broke the strap. We now own a Ford Fusion and we need to tow it on a dolly in order to get it home. The new strap on the Fusion also is very close and I am worried it will also break . Is this normal with the fusion?

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and they see this frequently with front wheel drive cars, there is very little room between the strut and the wheel.
When installing a wheel net like the Roadmaster, # RM-2150, you will want to be aware of where the strap is located and make sure that it does not have any contact with anything but the tire and wheel. This should prevent the previous issue you had while towing your Chrysler Town and Country where the strap broke.
