Question:
I have a 2003 4runner w/ a tow rating of 7300 Ill never tow that much. And a 12-ft aluminum boat I tow, typically with camping supplies in it maybe 1500-lbs total. Last year I added an extended hitch to accommodate a hitch-mounted bike rack all from etrailer of course. Unfortunately, the safety chains and 4-pin wiring no longer fit. Id like to simply add extensions, so I can use either length hitch. Im uncertain about what tow chain and quick link combination will work best for this purpose. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your purchase from etrailer!
I would go with the Hopkins 4-pole loop with cover # HM47115 because it will extend your current 4-way connector 48-inches (4 feet). If that is too long, we currently offer a 12-inch extension # 9653P. If you plan on using these extensions permanently, then I would use some dielectric grease between the connections # 11755. Then use zip ties to hold connections together and electrical tape to wrap it all up to protect it from the elements.
A safety chain option to consider is the Laclede with clevis slip hooks # 1483-535-04 because the weight capacity is 5,400 pound working load limit. The chains are 3/8 inch in diameter and are 35 inches in length. You will want to double-check your chains to ensure they are also 3/8 inch in diameter so they can fit together.
Or, you can replace your current chains with the Tow-Ready safety chain with quick links # TR63035. We do offer quick link connectors as individual items, # C82932 (1/2 inch) and has a safe working load limit of 3,300 pounds or the quick link # 6590-044-04 (3/8 inch) and has a safe working load limit of 2,200 pounds.
If you let me know the length you need and your chain diameter, I would be more than happy to look into additional options to ensure the best for your setup.
Take a look at the video reviews I included.
