What is the Towing Capacity for a 2002 Dodge Neon

Published 08/11/2008

Question:

Your 2002 Dodge Neon is capable of safely towing a maximum of 1500 pounds. For your vehicle, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Hitch, part # 24701. The 2000 pound towing figure refers to the capacity of the hitch, not the capacity of the vehicle itself. When towing, you must go by the lowest rated component, hitch or vehicle, in this case the vehicle has a lower capacity than the hitch. You cannot pull a trailer over 1,500 pounds with your Neon.

For a 2002 Dodge Neon (excluding ACR and RT) you can safely tow a maximum of 1500 pounds using the Curt # C11039 Class-1 hitch. There is no way in increase your car's towing capacity. You will have to lower the weight of what you are towing.

If you tow a small trailer you will need tow wiring harness to operate the lights on your trailer. You can use the Curt # C58044 kit. You will also need the Curt # C45521 ball mount. Additionally a ball once you find out the coupler ball size. You can email me for a recommendation when you have that information.
