Question:
Can I use a trunnion type WD hitch on my older travel trailer that has a C channel tongue ? The trailer weighs 4500 pounds and has a tongue weight of 550 pounds. THANKS

As long as the opening of the C-Channel is on the inboard sides of the frame then you can use a chain hanging weight distribution system whether it is round bar or trunnion bar.
To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
If 550 pounds is the total tongue weight then I recommend a system rated for up to 800 pounds tongue weight such as # RP67509 or # RP66541. For either of these systems you will just need to add a properly sized ball. Use # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.
I have included some helpful links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
