This high-efficiency RV air conditioner with heat pump offers comfortable camping in temperatures between 45 and 159 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a heat pump conserves up to 4 times more energy than a furnace because it pulls warm air in from outside instead of generating its own. This maintains your set temperature inside when ambient temperatures get as low as 45 degrees Fahrenheit outside, which is perfect for unexpected chilly nights and mornings.

A heat pump cannot be added to an air conditioner that doesn't already have one installed. It not only helps to maintain your set temperature, but it also features a dry setting that dehumidifies your RV and reduces condensation.

This unit is an excellent add to my trailer build. It is a heat pump which allows it to heat as well as cool on the more moderate days. It shuts off automatically when it is too cold to heat pump, but has a relay that allows it to run an electric heater and I hooked an electric fire place to that.

by:

Went RV camping with this heat pump this past week for 4 nights.
Noise level is less than half of unit this replaced
The 15k and increased air flow is wonderful.
So nice not to have to worry about running a gas or table top electric heater
Used heat and AC give them 5 stars each
Had to run new12v to unit
Already had a thermostat wire in roof and wall so cut ends off supplied new wire and spliced ends on to old cable

Ordered an Atwood air command heat pump and it was damaged. The customer service with etrailer is great. I will remain a customer due to their help with ordering and shipping issues.

by:

Damaged during shipping not once but twice!
The
box looked like it had been dropped and run over. So far the damage seems to be contained to the cover. I decided to keep it and repair the damage myself. Customer service with etrailer was great. This was not their fault but that of the shipping company.

by:

These heat pumps work very well

I think you need to package heavy and expensive items with foam protection. What were you thinking. Even a small cheap appliance from China comes with thick foam protection around it. Well I was going to submit pictures showing you just how sloppy it was, but wouldn't you know it? The hyperlink to upload photos doesn't work either. Somehow. I am not surprised. Sincerely, super disappointed.

by:

I was amazed that the new unit matched my existing unit so perfectly.

The installation was not difficult even with no instructions being included.

I am on my second AC unit from etrailer. The first came in with some damage on the cover and the condenser portion of the box ripped open ( which looked like it may have fallen out of the box at some point). Sent the first unit back. Received the second unit and it had a strange etrailer box overpack, with a lot of tape. The second unit cover was cracked in four locations and the front two cover screws were ripped out of the cover. The back frame and corners were bent with two of the condenser protective screen screws penetrating 3/8”into the condenser grill. A new cover is required but I am unsure of the other components as this has also seen rough handling. At this time, I am leaning toward returning both boxes and getting a refund.

Though I considered returning the second unit based on the significant damaged shroud/cover, I took the advice of your representative Jesse M. and inspected the second unit received. The significant damage was to the shroud/cover and not to the unit itself. The shroud/cover actually protects the unit from damage during shipping. I requested and Jesse M. followed up and sent a replacement shroud/cover. I installed the unit and new shroud/cover and they are working extremely well. Greatly appreciate etrailer's guidance and support.

by:

Have been very pleased with etrailer quality of items so far. For this one I'm hoping for the best, appears UPS rolled my new AC unit along the route. The box was decimated and taped & retaped. Finally, it was placed at the delivery point on its end. Damage is primarily cosmetic so far first appearances, awaiting tech to install soon. Will see

by:

the ac/heat pump system was delivered by the brown truck company with shipping damage. Waiting for the replacement hard cover/shroud to be shipped by etrailer - which won’t happen for a few weeks. Installation and review of the system performance will have to wait until the shroud is recievef

by:

3 roof top ac units were shipped and all 3 were damaged. etrailer then said they will not package a unit in anything other than a cardboard box (92 pound unit) nor will they ship another, yet, I have to wait on ups to ship it back before I get my 1600 dollar refund. I'm not at all impressed.

by:

The air conditioner works great and is much quieter than most others. The thermostat with it works great for the A/C, horribly on heat using a Suburban furnace. The temperature swing is waaaayyyy too big. I wired in our old digital in parallel with the provided one to fix that.

Shipping was an issue. The first one came and it looked like it had spent a month in Ukraine. The second one that was shipped had bent and dented coil tubing on the condenser coil. I subsequently bought from another supplier that has their own delivery crews.

Customer service was awesome it's just that the shipping department either couldn't or was not allowed to arrange for shipping that didn't ruin the product.

A year ago, I replaced the 10 yr old Carrier AC on our 30' Carriage fifth wheel with the Atwood Air Command Heat Pump. What a great decision! The new unit was surprisingly easy to install and wire myself without any issues. The hardest part of the job may be getting the unit on the roof. Fortunately, I have a friend with a forklift.

The Air Command works flawlessly, cooling the camper to 72 degrees, even during our hot and humid coastal North Carolina summer. The heat pump is also a great option for saving propane, down to about 45-50 degrees. You will still need your furnace for really cold weather, but as the day warms up, with the push of a button, you can conveniently switch back to the heat pump.

I am confident the Atwood Air Command will serve us well for many years- assuming of course, that I can avoid low-hanging tree branches!

by:

I have two A/C units in the camper, I compared the original Colman Mac AC unit (2015) that is installed to the Air command that I replaced the other Coleman mac with, was looking for quieter unit that works well, as promised it is much quieter, Coleman Mac was at 84db, this air command showed 68db (taken with a free DB app on phone) at highest output level in ducted position.

I also tested temperature with a IR gun. measured inside duct at closest point to units, Coleman Mac showed 58 degrees, air command showed 52 degrees.

So I achieved my goal, quieter with the bonus of cooler. I will be replacing the other old unit with a air command.

As I was changing units over I also decided to go with the units with the heat pump, so now I have a fireplace, heat pump (soon to have two) and standard furnace as choices to heat the camper.

I also took the advise of mounting the new thermostat directly onto the units grill on the ceiling (online video), in this manner I did not have to run wires for new thermostat and as heat rises the sensor is in a very good position as its at the hottest point of the interior.

Installation is super easy and you can do it yourself. YES even with a 84 pound unit. Wiring is simple

AC - three standard wires
DC - negative and positive
Thermostat is plug and play

Removal of unit is four bolts and very straight forward, just remove the ceiling cover (called a plenum) Phillips screws. two get the unit onto the roof by myself I took a 28ft ladder and put it at a angle and I tied a rope around the box and simply pulled it up to the roof (reverse to lower old unit). Would have been nice to have a spotter around the ladder to keep box straight but I was able to do it alone as I took my time.

by:

Service was excellent but the air conditioner was damaged. If the packaging was better I would give 5 stars

by:

We like the air conditioner but the thermostat sucks. It varies 10 degrees. If we set it at 70 degrees it will drop to 65 degrees before coming on & will go to 75 degrees before turning off. I intend to take it to a service center to have it checked in the spring. It is the same way when on heat. Other than that it works fine.

by:

I installed this unit on my Grand Design Reflection 297RSTS.
It fit the bedroom hole perfectly and runs great.
It is most definitely quieter than the Dometic unit in the living area.
Hardest part was how to fish the thermostat wire down the wall.
We resorted to cutting a notch in the medicine cabinet to do so. The unit has no controls built into the grill.
My only complaint is that while it is on the fan runs constantly.
I wish it cycled on and off but I called tech support. I was told that is the way it is designed.

by:

The folks at etrailer make it easy to order. They are informative and helpful and return phone calls promptly (thanks Heidi M). This is a big part of the buying process. As far as the product goes, it is absolutely the quietest AC I have experienced in a RV while operating on low. Quiet is why we purchased this particular unit, as our other unit which was only a year old was just to loud (approximately 70 dB on low). This unit cools our rig quickly and efficiently. The only part I question about the unit is the air return which is nothing but thin flexible Styrofoam. Not a dense Styrofoam in a plastic enclosure, or vice-versa. It is thin enough that light from the sun can transmit through it. The AC shroud does cover the Styrofoam, and time will tell whether it is durable enough to last through the elements. I did notice that the Styrofoam does squeak when going down a bumpy road and can be heard in our rig. That is disappointing.

by:

Air5 conditioner works great! Better than double the airflow now with the Atwood added to the original Duo Therm. Had a problem with the shipping though. UPS decided to try and bounce the package a few times and broke the shroud. Fortunately after sending pictures of the damage Samantha H quickly sent a replacement shroud which UPS handled with kid gloves.

by:

Unit was ordered June 1st with same week shipping. Shipping date was extended by 3 or 4 days all the way to the middle of Aug. When the unit arrived it looked like it had fallen off the truck and been dragged to the destination. The case was broken but was replaced within a week or so.

by:

For the money I paid for this unit I am not happy with the unit as a ducting unit. I should have went with the Coleman in the first place. The ducting system on this is not working well at all. They give you a black baffle in it and it is not doing the job. The air conditioning cools but not like it should through the ducting system. I bought a 15000 instead of what was originally in there was a 13500. That being said it does not work as good as it should through the ducting system. Very disappointed.

by:

Love the unit but the fan never turns off.. regardless if the unit is on auto.. I have bought 2 AC now and they both are Altwood. One 15000 BTU and one 13500BTUs.. but they are quite units and cool very nice..

by:

I would like to give this product 5 stars but 4.5 will have to do. What I like: 1-QUIET! this thing is 40dB+ more quiet than my previous unit. 2-COOL it keeps my 27' Jayco down to below 72 when its 99+ out. 3-AUTO altho the info doesn't cover it, the thermostat has a auto mode that switches between heat and cool depending on the temp set point. 4-HEAT it also keeps the camper warm (I keep it set to 75) AS LONG AS the temp outside is 45 or above, below that it turns on your gas furnace. What I don't like: 1-In heat mode the fan cycles on for 5secs every 90secs very annoying! 2-When in cool mode fan runs continuous on low even if the condenser isn't running. But all-in-all it was well worth the purchase. Thank you Atwood and eTrailer!

by:

This unit works so well .the thermostat keeps steady temps.the unit is also very quiet.there is no way you could beat this unit.please do not waste your time looking at others ........this one is worth every penny........downside ...heavy to ship....make sure carriers that deliver it do not damage it.

by:

Awesome a/c and awesome service. I upgrade a 13.5 BTU system to a 15k with heat pump. The unit is very quiet and rapidly cools my Grand Design Reflection.

The piece of mind calling a company like eTrailer and knowing you will get honest, and knowledgeable help, service and advice is a rarity.

The price match guarantee is a welcomed touch.
Their prices might not always be the cheapest, but by far the Best Value.

  • Recommended Replacement AC Unit for a 1971 Winnebago Brave
Nick, unfortunately all of our AC units with a heat pump like # AT15033 are only compatible with ducted systems. So with that said, you're going to be out of luck. But, we can still get you a new AC with a soft start. I recommend checking out the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor # ASA58YR. This AC will work with your ductless system, fit right in the 14" opening you have, and includes a start capacitor which jumpstarts your AC when a campsite or generator...

  • Does Atwood AC AT15033 Include Thermostat & Grill
Hi John, The thermostat and vent does not come with the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump # AT15033. The part you need is the Dometic 15022, which comes with those things. We don't carry that though as it was discontinued some time ago. In fact, the whole Atwood line was discontinued, so I would honestly go with something else that is going to be more reliable, with continued available support - the 15,000 Btu Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR23PV.
