Today we're going to take a look at the Carr black mega step fold-up truck step with a 500-pound weight capacity. Now, this heavy-duty step will mount to your vehicle so that you can easily access cargo and equipment. It does bolt on to a commercial truck, utility truck or any other flat surface that can support 500 pounds. It is a unique folding design that'll let you flip the step up when it's not in use. When you're ready to use it, just pull it right down. Has a nice extra-large non-skid step surface, offers sure footing.
There's a heavy-duty backing plate to provide strength and security and it's a sturdy rustproof aluminum alloy construction. It is a corrosion-resistant black powder coat finish to resist chipping, peeling and fading. It is a very simple bolt-on installation. Comes with the included hardware, the two steel straps, the mounting bolts, washers and nuts.This part is made in the USA. A few dimensions on this.
The step platform lengthwise is 14", widthwise is 5" wide. The mounting plate dimension, the backing plate here, width on that is going to be right at 12" long and right at 5-3/4" tall. As we mentioned, the weight capacity is 500 pounds. But again, when you're not using it, just flip it up out of the way and then when you're using it, just pull it down to use it. This is my 2nd Mega Step. The other step is on a work vehicle for 2 years (no issues what so ever). Great product. That’s why I need one for my personal truck.
It is a nice product, expensive, though nice.
This step is very sturdy! The textured surface prevents slipping in wet/muddy conditions. I liked it so much that I bought another one! The customer service from etrailer is terrific!

I received my step (product cart 190011) today.
I put it together easily in 5 min. This is one heavy duty fold up step.I am very impressed with the quality.
I am a large man and it supports me fine, and makes getting things out of the back of my truck much easier
As always, Carr makes a very good product. Had Carr Super Hoops on my previous truck and never had a problem. However, if Carr could make one slight improvement on the Mega Step, it should be to make the part that slips into the receiver, so that it would be just a bit more snugly fit. It has a little wiggle room when installed, allowing the step to have a bit of side to side movement. Nothing major, just a bit annoying. I plan to insert a shim to tighten the installation for my satisfaction. All in all, a good product.
Wish i would have bought it a long time ago. Working out great.
