A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

The rear tie downs do not extend out far enough to avoid the dully rear fender and has damaged the paint on the fender.

Oh, gosh! Would you be able to send in photos of what is happening? Id love to take those to the manufacturer and ask them about it, too.

by: Kevin 03/04/2024

Another well engineered product well suited for the application and supported by knowledgeable staff at etrailer.

by: Dennis09/20/2019

I just had a chance to put on quite a few miles in various conditions in these things perform flawlessly. I had some trouble with the installation as one of my frame bolts nut came loose so I had to drill another hole next to it and put a backer plant in the box but it turned out to work just fine doing that.

by: Janet06/15/2023

The TorkLift tie downs were relatively easy to install. They look great. They are designed well. It will give us peace of mind having them on our truck with our new big camper. We have not gone out camping yet to try them out, but expect good performance from them. Thanks to etrailer for helping us get them.

by: Jeff09/09/2021

Installed front hitch in front and rear tie-downs.
Solid as a rock and easy to install

by: Mark 08/30/2023

Extremely nice. Well packaged delivered fast great communication. The parts went on the truck easier than expected and very well engineered.

by: Randy Boschee03/23/2021

Once again the direction were not helpful at all. Found a [online] video that helped the most. Passenger side install was a breeze... the drivers was not!!! It's on but due to the fuel tank and guard on my 05 Sierra 3500 being so close to the frame I was not able to reach the flange nuts with my torque wrench. Due to the lack of space between the nuts and the fuel tank I had to rely on tightening them with an open end wrench. (Not ideal) To make matters more interesting I had to place a block of wood behind the flange in order to get the flange to stay in position and get the tie down on to the flange nuts. IMO Forklift engineers should develop a front tie down that is better suited to 2001-2007 GMC 3500 trucks. And non engineers should create the directions!!! It's 2021 - creating an install videos for their products should be a given.

Worked great. The camper came with fast gun tie down system. I would recommend using these also

2003 Chevrolet Silverado

The Torklift tie downs for my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado are as advertised. A quality product. I installed them without any issues. The instructions are straight forward and provide pictures for those who need visual assistance. Very happy with these tie downs.

by: Michael06/27/2019

I order this product for my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The quality is as advertised. I did the install myself. The bumper supports on my vehicles bumper are an integrated part of the tie down and not as easy to deal with as I had hoped. But the end result is very solid. Took me about two hours to go the install. Very happy with the quality of the Totklift tie downs.

by: Andrew 08/24/2017
2007ChevroletSilverado Classic

These tie-down supports are sturdy. Istallation was a bit of a challenge and required holes to be drilled to bolt the upper and lower pieces together, because where they matched up there wasn't a hole. I'm not sure if this was missed or done intentionally to allow for proper alignment first. These were advertised as "no drilling required" but that was not the case. Luckly I am somewhat mechanically inclined. If not, I advise a professional does the install.

by: Neil05/10/2022

Easy on, easy off and a solid hold on the camper. They are great and light years ahead of the rear bumper tabs. Can’t believe I ever trusted those things.

by: Marc R.06/06/2019

I was a bit unsure about the stability of this style of attachment to the frame when I first purchased these. After installing, testing and a year of constant use, they are still strong.
No bends or soft spots in the design.
Paint did chip off after about 6 months of road use

by: Jack 11/21/2021

vary easy to install. Was shorted 2 metric locking nuts was only issue.

by: Grant B11/14/2014

I just received this and it looks solid and well built. I tested it to ensure it will fit my Silverado 2500HD. One thing that I noticed is that Torklift's instructions are terrible. I've never seen such poor instructions and bad photos. You might as well throw them in the garbage and figure it out yourself.

Already installed! Installation was easy, Installation instructions for the TLC2204 could use a revision. I spent more time trying to understand the instructions than the installation itself. :{
