MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - Smoke
Put this in to get heat out of semi. Open side vent and turn fan on high exhaust wow what a game changer.
Initially I was real apprehensive about getting this fan installed on my 16’ Casita. Not because I didn’t want the fan, believe me I did. The specifications alone were impressive, but the ability to run it like a ceiling fan, with the vent closed was hands down the most impressive feature. Something my little Dachshund Cinnamon would surely attest to. The front mounted ac unit in the 16’ Casita benifits greatly from this fan, it circulates the air better, cools things quicker and, helps maintain the temperature better. There is little information about putting this on a Casita, much less a 16’ one, but I’m happy with my decision to do so. This fan is awesome, and Etrailer was very helpful with information on my purchase. Another note was that I’m happy Terry my installer did this project, the factory installed Fan was riveted in from the top, and removing it wouldn’t have been a typical by the book procedure. Thanks George J. I’m one happy camper, and that’s without mentioning the remote control, air flow on low settings, great price, fast delivery, or quietness of the product. Sincerely, A. McCord Sgt. Dometic FanTastic Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Powered Lift - 14-1/4" x 14-1/4"
The (2)fan lid black plastic mounting bosses broke as if they had deteriored in the sun. This lower the lift arm to flop down and keep the lid from opening. Trying to figure a method to repair.
Absolute waste. It seems like when the company was sold they changed the programming and instead of fixing it or giving customers an option (read: a simple switch!) they made it so the rain sensor just shuts it permanently absolutely destroying any usefulness of the rain sensor. Customer service doesn't even understand the problem (e.g. getting up at 3 am because of a 2 minute rain at midnight to cycle the fan power) or alternative uses (e.g. using the fan to prevent overheating for longer periods- an all day hike). It now just closes permanently a the first drop of rain instead of reopening when the sensor is dry. I literally ripped this brand new fan out two weeks after install and a year later it's still sitting on my workbench because I refuse to hobble someone else with this absolute piece of garbage before I get a chance to override the problem with an FRM01 12v relay computer. I haven't bothered because 1. I have a better fan (the old version I was lucky enough to find) 2. this one has a chimney which sits up 2" higher 3. the new motor is weak enough that even if nothing else was wrong it would still be a mediocre fan. The old model has a horizontal front hinge and a black motor housing that extends into the lid. Beware a lot of images of the old model are still used in listings for the new model.
