Great question, Dave!
After some double checking I can confirm that Rhino Rack part # Y02-480B-NT will work on the factory tracks on the roof of your 2002 Ford Excursion.

Hi Herman,
The roof dimensions of your 2005 Ford Excursion are 120" long x 55-56" wide, so you should have plenty of room for the Surco Safari 5.0 rack that is 84" long x 50" wide to fit on your roof. This cargo basket does have some specific roof rack fitments though. The Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket part # SPS5084-T400 is designed to specifically to fit the crossbars of Thule roof racks. It is also not compatible with Thule RapidAero, AeroBlade, WingBar, Probar, or TracRac... view full answer...
Hey Tim, for a larger transmission cooler that is really efficient that is a fit for your 2003 Ford Excursion we have the Derale part # D13504 which is 11W x 12T x 7/8D Inch. This will do a great job keeping your transmission fluid temps down but you'll also want the fitting adapter part # D13025 as well to help make the install a bit easier. view full answer...
Hey Stephen, what you'd want is an anti-rattle device like the Curt part # C27UR which will take out that movement. There isn't a shim you could use to take up that extra space that's there. view full answer...
Hey Mike! The closest you're going to get to 300 lbs is the Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty Roof Rack # RR26BP. This has a capacity of 220 lbs. There are some options like the # Y35NB with higher crossbar capacity, but the towers limit you to the standard 165 lbs for the roof rack. You also need to make sure you don't exceed the capacity of the roof on your vehicle.
