Video Transcript for Installation Guide for the Scrubblade Platinum Windshield Wiper Blade on a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

Jay: Hey everyone, Jay here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and I want to walk through how to install the Scrubblade Platinum Windshield Wiper Blades. And when we're thinking about getting new windshield wiper blades, because our other ones wore out, we're trying to figure out which ones are going to be the best ones. A lot of times if you buy the cheaper ones, they tend to chatter. So if your windshield is dry, you got a really light mist rain, and it dries your windshield pretty quick. What happens is the windshield wiper will bounce on the windshield and it gets annoying. If you go too expensive, sometimes they tend not to last as long as they should, or as long as you would expect them to.So we take a look at our factory blade.

Most of your windshield wiper blades that you see are going to be a single blade. Our new one is actually going to have two blades on it. And both blades are going to be covered in a nano graphite, which means it's going to eliminate that chattering effect you get when your windshield is dry. Each blade, on the outside, is going to have little knobs on it. And what this helps with is.. Let's say you hit a bug that gets smashed on your windshield.

A lot of the factory blades are not going to get a lot of that stuff off. It's just going to go right over the top of it. With the new one having the scrubbers on both blades, you're not only getting it on the way up, but you're also scraping it on the way down. So it's going to remove a lot more of that debris off the windshield. So if we take a look at our old blade, and this is a typical blade, they're normally hinged. And if you look right here, this is where your hinge is.

And it's connected on the blade in four spots. What that does is if any dirt or debris gets caught up in there, the blade will flatten out and it's not going to form to the windshield. And that's when you start getting streaking, which means that the blade is not actually touching the glass anymore. With our new one, it's not actually hinged. It actually connects to the blade in eight different spots, which allows a downward pressure on the glass more evenly spread from one end to the other, which is going to eliminate the streaking. Each blade is going to have a nice rubber cover that's going to help protect any of the components underneath from dirt, debris and weather. As the wind is blowing over your car, you'll notice the high edge here.

As the wind blows over, it's going to hit that edge and it's going to deflect it off. What that's also doing is it's putting downward pressure on so that the blade makes constant contact with your glass. To start our installation, it's a good idea have a piece of cardboard or something as a buffer between your windshield wiper arm and your glass. Take a pick, a flat-head screwdriver. This little end right here, we need to pop it up. Also, what we're going to do, we're going to slide the wiper back. We'll slide it out like that. The new Scrubblade, it's going to have the same thing. Pop up the cap. We're in. Set it down inside like that. And we're just going to pull back until it clicks. We'll let that down. We're going to repeat the process for the passenger side.Once you get them both installed, you're ready to go. That's going to do it for look at and installation on the Scrubblade Platinum Windshield Wiper Blades on a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox..

  • Troubleshooting Scrubblade Windshield Wipers Streaking On a 2015 Subaru Forester
I have a couple things you can try to resolve the streaking issue you are having with the Scrubblade Wipers # SC94FR and # SC77FR. First you will want to ensure your windshield is clean and does not use any repellants such as Rain-X or ceramic coatings. You can also try flipping the blades 180 degrees as this is found to help in most applications. You can do this by removing the connector clipped to the blades and reinstall them 180 degrees. If you find neither of these solutions help...
