Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Add to that the unique turbulator technology - whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure - and you have an easy and effective cooling system.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we take a look at this Derale Series 7000 tube and fin transmission cooler kit with the hose barb inlets. Now, this transmission cooler kit will improve functioning and overall performance of your transmission. It is recommended for full-sized cars, trucks, and SUVs. This will help extend the life of your transmission and prolongs the period between your necessary fluid changes.
This does cut down on heat-related failures and what's nice is this is designed with copper tubing and expands into aluminum fins for maximum heat transfer. Basically, the copper tubing is the best material for conducting the heat out of the fluid and then the aluminum fins is ideal for transferring and dissipating that heat. The tube and fin design effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. Concept is pretty simple. Basically your fluid runs through the tube and as it travels, as it travels through the core, it transfers the heat out to these fins.
And then these fins is what'll provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place allowing the heat to be pulled out from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Also, what's nice is you add the unique turbulator technology on the tubes here whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in the pressure and you have a nice easy and effective cooling system. Now, what's nice is it's protected from any possible damage during installation 'cause it has these plastic fin guards on it and a nice powder coat finish. It does include everything shown here on the table. It comes with the transmission, the tube and fin cooler itself.
It comes with the four foot long high-temperature OEM spec hose with the stainless steel clamps, the bendable metal mounting brackets with hardware. Also comes with these nylon mounting rods with the different pads to install it. Over here, we have the instadapt radiator adapter and what this does is this will adapt your transmission line so that you can connect the radiator to the transmission cooler quickly and easily. No cutting or flaring of lines. And this will fit almost any vehicle with 5/16th inch diameter transmission lines.
And it does include both male and female threads. Now, these parts are made in the USA. A few specs, we mentioned the hose barbs right here. They are 11/32nd size. The overall dimensions on this, if we measure the width on it and we're gonna measure including the tubes, so from the end of this one to the end of that one is 12-3/4 inches wide. The overall height bottom to the top 12-5/8th inches tall. Total depth on this is only three quarters of an inch deep. Now the core length, which is this is the core right here, so just the length on the core itself is gonna be right about 9-5/8th inches. And the last measurement is gonna be the distance between the inlets right here. These hose barb inlets center to center is gonna be right at 11-1/4 inches. It does come with a nice set of instructions that'll help describe how this all goes together. The on-line video was very helpful. Installing went smooth with one exception. As mentioned in many other on-line reviews, there was not enough hose supplied with the unit. While I had not problem with needing to purchase a small amount of hose, the package indicated that it was to be 5/16" ID. While the supplied hose was made in China and the walls of that hose where very flexible, the Gates hose, (made in the USA) was very rigid and would not go on the stud of the cooler, requiring a second trip to the Auto parts store to purchase 4' of 3/8" hose. A 12 mile round trip. Also, required the purchase of a knurled ended 5/16" hose connection and on qt. of tyranny fluid. Total added cost of $20.20. Have not towed with it installed yet.
This is my 1st after market trans cooler and i was always under the impressuon to get the biggest one that will fit. This is the biggest one without any modification. Easy install installed between a/c confessor and existing stock trans cooler bracket. I bypassed the engine radiator all together so I'm running 2 coolers the stock one and D13105. It's installed on a lifted with 35in tires 2012 silverado 6.2l 4x4 6l80 trans with the tow package. It's May 22 and 93 degrees the avg every day running temp before install was 193 now my running temp is 142, I ccouldn't believe how much of a difference the cooler made. I haven't tried it in 4x4 yet but I'm sure it's going to be just as good. This coming weekend is memorial day so I'm planning a weekend on the beach going to do some off road 4x4 and for sure pulling some stuck people out of the sand. If i can post and update of temps from the weekend I will .
Transmission cooler was a little larger than I needed I should've gone with a smaller one .had trouble fitting it in the suburban but we modify The suburban made it work. There was not enough transmission hose. So if you're install it in large vehicle need to get extra hose ,extra clams and tie wraps. Overall the transmission cooler works great and transmission is about 20° cooler.
Used as replacement for primary transmission cooler. Seemed to keep transmission cooler, but really noticed a difference after adding a slim line fan to the combination. Etrailer products and customer service always top notch.
Product arrived as described. I have not installed yet because i see that i will need some additional hose, and the vehicle specific adapter for the radiator trans cooler. I bought this unit for my 2001 dodge ram 1500 in preparation for a cross country drive that i would be pulling a trailer. My truck was a gift but it has 151,000 miles on it and everything is original equipment. It still runs strong I want to keep it running as long as possible. I'm sure I will have to replace the transmission at some point, but if this small investment can keep me going for a few thousand extra miles I'm going to be happy.
Nice quality. Very effective. Installed on '08 Chrysler Town & Country van with 3.8L engine. Thought website difficult to decipher best product for my application. Had to buy [online] a pair of couplers for the 11/32nds ID hose supplied (used to splice into tranny line (cost about $6). Should have been supplied.
The Transmission Cooler Kit was exactly as described. Installation was easy. It seems to be performing well.
The hoes that came with the kit was not long enough. other than that everything was fine.I also purchased radiator adapter fitting which I did not need
delivered as ordered, on time. helpful vidio for install on my truck. I would order this product again .product should come with more hose and clamps.
Nice Cooler! This is the max size you can fit on Suburban/Tahoe 2007-2014.
My transmission is not overheating any more.

Easy install on my 2007 Toyota Tacoma.
Easy install other than I needed to buy more hose to hook inline with my existing cooler. It took all but 6" just to get to a tranny line then another 3ft to reach cooler.
excellent and fast shipping but a time to we install the cooler the hose is not enough for the complete setup. I will have to buy more hose in another local store
