The protector comes in 3 pieces - 1 seat cover and 2 headrest covers. The large cover drapes over the top and front of your bench seat.
A strip of hook-and-loop fasteners (similar to Velcro) runs across the entire length of the top of the cover so you can make space for your headrests to fit through. Then you can secure each headrest cover over your headrests using the built-in hook-and-loop straps. Hello, neighbor. This is Curt with etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the ARIES Automotive Seat Defender bench seat protector in our 2021 Ford F-150. Now, the thing to know about the Seat Defender is that first and foremost, it is a universal fit. It's not a custom fit, so you're not gonna, you know, have those perfectly tucked creases everywhere. You're not gonna be able to really kind of use the split seat or anything like that. This is really made to be tough, durable, waterproof, cover your seat completely, but also be able to be removed and reinstalled very quickly.
It is gonna be machine washable so you could throw it in the washer and dryer to get a good cleaning out of it. And it also does a really good job of not really absorbing too much. Like when it comes to crumbs or hairs and things like that, it is actually really easy to brush that stuff off. It is gonna have a polyester cover on the front, and that is really gonna help because it is gonna be a waterproof material. And it's backed by a rubber coating on the back that's gonna add to that waterproof capability.
But not only that, it's also got kind of a texture to it. It makes for an excellent grip and really keeps the seat from sliding around too much. It attaches very, very simply. Everything is done by hook and loop. And it is gonna be, being universal, able to fit around a lot of the obstacles with a lot of the different seat options.
You're gonna get two headrest covers out of it as well. And all they really do is kind of drape over and wrap under with a hook and loop here to strap in and be put in place. Three pieces mainly. You have a strip in the back here that's gonna go behind your headrest attached to the main component here with the hook and loop, and it'll allow you to just drape it right over. We have holes here for our seatbelt receptacles.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that that middle seatbelt, there's really no opening or slot for that to come out. So even though we have the receptacle out right here, the seatbelt itself is actually behind here. It's not really gonna be usable with this application. So don't count on using that here in your F-150. There's just not a spot for it to come through. One of the things I wanted to show too is that up here at the top of our F-150, we've got this here, which is actually feeding our seatbelt down. We had the option of either going around it or going over it. And since we're not using it, we gave the option to go over it. Going around it, you know, similar to what this would be right here, it just really didn't give us enough to grip and keep this section of the back up. So we went ahead and bypassed it, 'cause again, we're not using that anyway. Now, just a couple of things to mention coverage wise, we've got an inch or two exposed around the edge of our bench seat on both the driver and the passenger side so it doesn't come quite all the way across, but in my opinion, it should be enough to cover what really matters. And also it does drape over the front here. It barely, barely touches the ground when we've got it kind of pushed back to where the seat seam is here. So all in all, you know, it fits as I would expect it to being a universal fit. But that's the great trade off there is the ease of use. Getting this in and out of the vehicle only takes about five minutes, and the ability to take it out and be able to actually wash it and throw it back in is huge. The times that I would really, really think that this would come in very handy would be for anybody that has a pet that would go in the backseat. You know, just keeping that hair off of the seats and stuff like that, it could be really, really a pain in the butt to try to vacuum out all the seat seams and really be able to get all that hair out of there. Maybe you got kids going back and forth from the pool, or maybe you do a lot of camping and outdoor stuff where you get a lot of dirt and mud on you, a job site, anything like that. Maybe you like to keep some tools and stuff like that in the back seat here and you just want to kind of keep your seats protected, protect the investment that is the original seats in your car. But all in all, I think this would be an excellent option for anybody looking for something like that, something that's gonna be a lot more low maintenance and easy to care for and easy to install.
