Today we're gonna take a look at this K Source driver-side replacement electric side view mirror with the heat and turn signal function and also the blind spot detection system. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 and newer Subaru Forester vehicles. And on a custom-fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the Fit Guide, put in your year and model vehicle, show you if this will work for your application. Now this side view mirror is a direct replacement for the driver's side factory mirror on your vehicle.
If you look at it, it is modeled after the manufacturer's original look and fit, does offer the power remote capability, which means you can adjust your mirror face position with the factory power controls inside your vehicle. Offers the heated mirror glass, which will clear frost and ice, help reduce fogging. The back here, you can see, it has the Amber light here, it'll light up on the side of the mirror, the flash, when the turn signal's activated. And this one also offers the blind spot detection system. You can see right here, this part here will light up to alert you if there's a vehicle in your blind spot.
Now this mirror does use the OE-grade flat glass with first surface plating, with flex clear ridges. Front of the glass is plated with reflective chrome and it is a flat lens so it reflects the true representation of the object size in the mirror. It is a breakaway design. The mirror will fold when it's struck to prevent breakage. You can see it is in a nice durable plastic housing with a nice gloss-black finish, and it can be painted to match your vehicle if you prefer.
It is an easy no-drill installation, has the same footprint and mounting points as your factory mirror and the mirror right here, you can see, will plug into your existing electrical wiring. A few specs on this, This will replace the OE part number of 91036SJ580. It is for a quantity of one driver's side mirror. And a couple notes on this mirror is the power remote capability, the turn signal and the blind spot detection system of this mirror will work only if your vehicle already has those functions, and this mirror does not support the memory function. The product is a good fit. Very close to the original manufacturer mirror. Installing it was straightforward and I had no issues with the fit.
The only issue I have is with the products availability. The website did not state that it was on backorder when I purchased it, so I had to wait over three weeks for delivery. Not a deal-breaker, but a heads up before I purchased would have been good so I could decide whether or not to proceed. I'm glad I didn't absolutely need the mirror by a certain day. Otherwise this would be a different review entirely.
I definitely recommend etrailer for purchasing though. All of their products I have ordered are very good quality.
The good outweighs the bad with this replacement. The new K-Source mirror seems like it gives me a little bit wider angle of visibility than the OEM mirror. I appreciate that, but I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't simply just swap out the K-Source cover with my OEM cover. Truck looks like it has an eyepatch now! All in all, almost considered buying the right hand side for a matching set. I'll leave it for now.
