Today we're going to take a look at the K-Source replacement driver-side electric side-view mirror with the turn signal function. And this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1998 to 2002 Ford Expedition vehicles. Now this is a side-view mirror. It's a direct replacement for the driver-side factory mirror on your vehicle.
You can see it is modeled after the manufacturer's original look and fit.Does offer the power remote capability. So it'll let you adjust your mirror face position with the factory power controls inside your vehicle. You notice right here, it does offer the red LED arrow in the mirror face which will light up when your turn signal's activated. They do use the high intensity LEDs which are brighter than your standard turn signal lights. The glass on this mirror is an OE-grade flat glass with first-surface plating to reflect clear images.
Front of the glass is plated with reflective chrome and it uses a flat lens which will reflect true representation of the object size. It is a breakaway design mirror. It'll fold when it's struck to prevent any breakage.You can see it's in a nice durable plastic housing with textured black finish and a glossy black cover on it. The cover itself can be painted to match your vehicle. It is an easy no-drill installation.
Has the same footprint and mounting points as your factory mirror and you can see it has the plug which will plug into your existing electrical wiring in your vehicle. Specs on this mirror. This does replace the original equipment part number of YL1Z17683FAA. It is for a quantity of one driver-side mirror. And one note on this mirror, is the power remote capability and the LED turn signal.

The good outweighs the bad with this replacement. The new K-Source mirror seems like it gives me a little bit wider angle of visibility than the OEM mirror. I appreciate that, but I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't simply just swap out the K-Source cover with my OEM cover. Truck looks like it has an eyepatch now! All in all, almost considered buying the right hand side for a matching set. I'll leave it for now.
The product is a good fit. Very close to the original manufacturer mirror. Installing it was straightforward and I had no issues with the fit.
The only issue I have is with the products availability. The website did not state that it was on backorder when I purchased it, so I had to wait over three weeks for delivery. Not a deal-breaker, but a heads up before I purchased would have been good so I could decide whether or not to proceed. I'm glad I didn't absolutely need the mirror by a certain day. Otherwise this would be a different review entirely.
I definitely recommend etrailer for purchasing though. All of their products I have ordered are very good quality.
