Features to know about

Space For The Whole Crew

Smaller rooftop tents can feel tight once everyone climbs inside. This model is designed for three to four people, with a 95" x 67" sleeping footprint and 40-3/16" peak internal height. The larger interior gives everyone defined space without stacking gear or sleeping shoulder to shoulder.

Quick Setup Without Ground Clutter

After a long drive, setting up camp shouldnt take over your evening. The unzip travel cover and fold-out base simplify the transition from parked to ready-to-sleep. Instead of spreading poles and fabric across the ground, you open the tent from the roof and step inside.

Protected Space Beyond The Tent

Changing weather and tight campsites can limit usable space. The large integrated awning creates a sheltered area beside your vehicle for gear or downtime. Optional walls (sold separately) can enclose that space when additional coverage is needed.

Ventilation, Access, And Secure Design

Rooftop tents need airflow and reliable mounting to stay comfortable and secure. Panoramic skylights, windows, and mesh panels promote circulation, while the outward angled entrance maximizes interior room. The aluminum base and exterior attachment points provide structure, and the integrated angled step ladder supports steady entry and exit.

Video Transcript for Why Thule Rooftop Tents Stand Out

Hey, everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. And guess who's visiting this week Yes, Thule is in the house. Now, they brought all kinds of new things to check out, to learn about. We've been doing a lot of training using their things and helping neighbors on their journey with figuring out what is the best fit for you and your adventuring lifestyle. Now, we got to see some really cool things, and now you get to see a sneak peek of them, too. Let's go.

And here, we have Ash with Thule, and he brought a bunch of different tents that we're going to take a look at. But the first one is what do you have here on your truck We have the new Thule Widesky Hardshell Tent. This tent goes into our collection among our other softshell or hitch-mounted tents. Awesome. So, you say hardshell tent.

Now, how is a hardshell tent different from your guys' new softshell tent That's a great question. So, the hardshell tent, the number one selling feature is ease of deployment. So, it opens up very quickly, it closes very quickly, and there's minimal tucking of fabrics to put it away. Versus a softshell tent, you're prioritizing the internal space. So you're getting maximum interior space but trading off space for quicker deployment, closing on hardshell.

Now, this is something that I'm really excited about with the hardshell tent, and what do you call it This is called the Thule Widesky. The Widesky, so with the Widesky, how heavy is it This is just under 150 pounds without the ladder. So, it's easy for two people to carry it onto the top of the roof rack or, in this case, truck bed rack. And that's awesome. For me, I like to go camping.

I like to have a rooftop tent 'cause, that way, I can camp pretty much anywhere I park. And hardshell tents were always a little out of my weight capacity. So, seeing the Widesky with all of its features, how lightweight it is, is awesome. We do have a rooftop tent called the Thule Foothill. Evangeline Yes. The Foothill is 24 inches wide when it's on top of the vehicle. So, you can carry a rooftop tent if you would like it to be on your vehicle, as well as a cargo box, bike, kayak, et cetera. Yeah. I've actually camped inside the Thule Foothill. There's a lot more space than you would expect in that tent, especially with how it's designed, so that other things can be carried on your roof. Well, I've also seen that there are more like electric vans, electric vehicles out and about, so that's something pretty interesting. They don't want things on top of their roof. For sure, so we are a global company, and the original design intent behind it was with electric vehicles and preserving miles per gallon. And so that's really how we designed it so that it would go on the rear of the vehicle while also giving you space still on top of the vehicle to put any sort of cargo box, skis, snowboard, kayaks, et cetera. Yeah, so all kinds of new tents. So here at Thule, or with Thule being here at etrailer, we got to see all kinds of things: new roof boxes, bike racks, attachments for bikes, and tents. So, who's gonna be the most excited about which tents Sure, so honestly, that comes down to ultimately personal preference, but I also like asking people a lot of questions. Yeah. Do you have future plans for other things that you'd like to carry on top A kayak, as an example, it's not gonna go into the trunk of your car 'cause it's too big. If you're looking to put that on top of your vehicle, well, then, the Foothill would be a good option for you. Evangeline Yeah. If you want it to be the easiest camping experience, a hardshell, like the Thule Widesky, would be the best option for you. So kind of depends on your situation or circumstance. Thule Approach, too, as an example, that's our softshell tent that gives you the maximum interior space if you go with the large size. So, if you're prioritizing internal space, that's the best tent for you. So, I would ask yourself multiple questions. Evangeline Yes. Do I have other plans Do I want other things on top Yeah, we love asking questions, and if you can't get in contact with Ash or with me, we are here for you right here at etrailer as well. We love getting calls, or emails, or messages asking about: What is the best fit for my adventure because I love going on adventures and I love hearing about other people going on theirs, too. So, thank you so much, Ash, for- You're welcome. Hanging out, showing us all these cool new things, and we'll see you guys next time. See you next time.
