When you’re packing for a long trip or gearing up for off-road travel, space quickly runs out. The Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack gives you a huge, flat surface—100" long x 62" wide—to haul all kinds of gear. From kayaks and cargo boxes to camping setups and recovery tools, this platform frees up room inside your vehicle and keeps everything secure on top.
Rough terrain, heavy loads, and unpredictable weather demand gear that holds up. The Pioneer’s aluminum frame and reinforced nylon connectors are powder coated and non-corrosive, so they won’t rust or fade when exposed to the elements. It’s been tested in harsh Australian conditions to prove it can handle off-road punishment without giving up strength or stability.

No matter what your setup looks like, mounting your gear is easy. The integrated channels in the planks, side rails, and frame fit a wide range of Rhino-Rack accessories like awnings, light brackets, shovel holders, and spare tire carriers. You can also add accessory bars (sold separately) to mount clamp-on gear such as bike racks and cargo boxes. With this modular setup, you can mix and match accessories without losing usable space.

A big platform doesn’t have to mean big wind resistance. The Pioneer’s low-profile tray is shaped to reduce wind noise and drag, helping keep your drive quieter and more efficient. It looks rugged but stays streamlined, whether you’re cruising on the highway or heading down a dusty trail.
Installing a rack shouldn’t feel like a project. The Rhino-Rack Pioneer includes six RLTP legs that bolt directly to fixed mounting points, plus a torque tool set for accurate assembly. Once it’s together, you’ve got a solid platform that’s ready for years of hauling gear wherever your adventures take you.

It awesome it perfectly fit to my 2008 Lexus GX 470
Great and Fast Service!
My Rhino rack still looks like the day I installed it. Great product.
I chose an Aluminum Rack to minimize corrosion expecting that any steel hardware would be stainless steel. The hardware unfortunately is coated steel and, in my opinion will, over time start to rust. I am now looking at alternative manufacturers to determine whether anyone has a rack with stainless hardware.
Quality product, and the price on etrailer was good. But it was a bear to put together. This product comes with different kits for various installs and 3 sets of directions. Try juggling that. On top of that, after hours of trying to figure out where to install the risers/supports to fit my vehicle, and making a few calls to Rhino, we figured out that I had to drill holes in the unit to fit my vehicle... although it was supposed to fit according to the website. I'm happy with it now that it is installed, but won't be able to get that day back.
Let me start off by saying I am new to roof racks. I originally had crossbars and Yakima basket. Nothing wrong with tha set up, I just wanted something more low profile. I searched around and came across my current Rhino Pioneer platform. So far I like the way it looks and I like that it is very versitile. There are many add ons you can purchase, which is pretty awesome. I wanted this style rack for not only a low profile look but for the wide space functuality of having the entire roof of my jeep at my disposal. So far, I have strapped my snowboard bag ontop and hauled a few items from the hardware store. I recently purchased the side rails for added security to my luggage. I hope that down the line I will get an opportunity to purchase some add ons and use it's versitility a bit more.
While I believe it is a good platform, there are things I personally did not like.
1. Cost, with the towers that mount to the rails on my jeep, this platform was close to $800 on sale.
2. All accessories and or add on are pretty pricey themselves. You can easily spend an additional 1k on buying accessories for this rack.
3. Instructions were very poorly written. The pictures were badly illustrated in my opinion and they did not specify certain parts; which set of towers went in the front and which ones went in the back.
4. I did not like that while my rack was for my vehicle, I still had to drill extra holes so that the spaci g for the mounting towers were correct. Being the rack is universal, I do get it, but still.
5. Wind noise SUCKS! And the faring for this is pretty ugly.
Nonetheless the product is well built, versitile and looks great. You do get what you pay for... I hope. etrailer customer service was fantastic as I did call them a few times, Thank you! As of now, for the most part I am happy with this rack. Time will tell if the cost is worth the item.
Great product and was a huge upgrade for my Lexus GX 470. Now it doesn’t look like a grocery getter ??
Great roof rack, very sturdy and easy to assemble. I have it on my second truck. E-Trailer always supports their products with exceptional service.
The rack is solid and a good size. Creates a lot more wind noise than anticipated.
