I received THREE different sets of instructions for the 2500, plus the PDF I was prompted to download...REALLY confusing. I have put together all kinds of furniture, including a 3' x 6' armoire (I am a 5' tall woman), installed paneling and flooring, including carpet in my van, installed bathroom tiles, built closet storage 'out of my head' and from plans, pulled and installed a car radiator/brake and clutch pedals assembly/starter assembly during the course of my 56 years on this earth...but I have never, never, never had such a difficult time making sense of 'too much information'...please go over the instructions and combine what needs to be combined and separate the info for the different vehicles!!!
I am pleased with the outcome as far as the overall sturdiness of the product and I look forward to making use of this system. Besides the assembly instruction difficulties, I am disappointed in the fact that I bought the lock sets for each crossbar, only to see that the insides of each of the legs is exposed... ??? Please consider that in future design 'tweaks'.
I installed using the fixed mount on our 2016 Mazda CX-5. Install, while a bit lengthy, was fairly straightforward when you follow the directions. Solid roof rack that is good for strapping items down, including kayaks/canoe.
Note of caution for 2016 Mazda CX-5 owners! If using fixed mount with a moonroof, the placement is directly over moonroof. It whistles too. Enough to want to keep the moonroof shut.
Again, if using fixed mount on 2016 Mazda CX-5, the space between bars is TOO WIDE for any standard cargo box. Literally nothing out there that will fit. I learned the hard way.
I bought these racks about a year ago for my 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback. They installed easily to the fix points on the car. After the initial fitting, I can install or remove them in about ten minutes.
The quality is great and they are holding up very well. They are very quiet and make an excellent, sturdy base for carrying my Thule Roof box. I was also very pleased with the prompt and courteous service I received from Etrailer.
I bought this rack for affordability and the fact that it was taller than the antenna fin on the roof. My SUP board fits perfectly up there without needing expensive add on accessories.
The racks were easy to install and look really great.
I bought the complete set (mounting points, mounts and aero cross bars) looking for a less expensive approach for a rack to carry my sea kayak. The equipment shipped quickly from or via etrailer. The instructions that came with the whole kit leave a little bit to be desired and a little bit of mechanical interpretation is needed to figure out what parts you need and which you don't. The whole set went together relatively easily in an hour or so. I remove the bars, mounts and mounting points when not in use which is a bit time consuming and fiddly. I had to replace the mazda 3's roof moulding which was continuous with one that had the necessary pop out pieces to accept the rack but this was not costly nor a big job. Overall, I am pleased with the rhino rack and it looks just fine. The one area it could be improved is wind noise - at some speeds there can be quite a heavy drone either off the bars or mounts. The bars do have rubber inserts to smooth out the surface across the width of the car. I suspect it might be the mounts which have the inboard side of them completely open so the air flowing along the car goes over this open space like you would have happen when you blow across the top of a bottle. I am going to try to cover the sides with gorilla tape to see if this makes a difference. Apart from that, I am quite happy with the etrailer ordering, delivery and the Rhino rack in general.
It took me a little while to install because the size numbers for my vehicle were off. But that being said, fast deliver and all the CORRECT parts for my particular vehicle made it a reasonably easy installation. I would order from e-trailer again.
Instructions were a little hard to understand for the first few steps. If there was online instructions, they were not easy to find. Very clean install!
Rhino Rack installed on our 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. Installation took approximately 25 minutes.
The Rhino roof rack looks great on my 2015 Mazda3 hatchback.
Crossbars carry up to 4 SUP boards on a little Subaru wagon. Strong, quiet, trouble free.
Install onto factory fix points was relatively easy, being very careful to not cross thread anything. The numbered instructions had good pictures and were easy to follow. Cut the bar bottom inserts to the right size and the assembled racks fit the car well. Seems sturdy. Attached swagman fork down racks and put bikes on and drove around some to test it out. Time will tell but this seems like a good rack for the money.
It works, yet for the price I expected more precision manufacturing than what I got. Several screw threads had rough spots and there is no way to tighten the nut on the underside of the metal bracket on one leg. It would have been nice for the instructions to mention the wrench for that nut is a 10 mm. And whatever made the designers think the regular user would have the type of torque wrench they require?

So the product was great, and installation was relatively easy. I have a concern with the pads I received in my box/ the placement of them. And I’m not sure who to contact?
I did not see on the DK sheet specific for my vehicle how to place the pads and which way the arrow should go. So I put them all on with the arrow facing out. The back pads look great but they front pads look odd, and not just the placement but also the pad itself. I’ll attach two pictures to show you the difference in them!

Pretty nice rack system. Held up to my 90lb canoe no problem. However a piece did fly off on the highway and the "locking" bar end cap can pull off super easy.
The directions were ok. There is some stuff you have to kind of figure out for yourself, mainly the roof trim. I plan to leave the rack on so I drilled theough the trim
The folks at etrailer are great. Part of my order was backordered and they went out of their way to try and speed up delivery, even with the backorder delivery was very fast.
Installation (2017 Mazda hatchback) was easy but I must have misunderstood the directions because both front and rear spacing was too short (1 1/2"). No problem though as a slight adjustment that only took ten extra minutes at the most to resolve with no effect on the installation. I didn't time it but I bet the whole installation from unboxing to being done took less than an hour and it fits the car, both physically and aesthetically perfect. Pleased customer planning to buy some accessories real soon.
I was able to transfer my Rhino Rack bars and 2500 series platforms from my C-Max to my Mazda 5 with just changing the foot kit from one specific to the C-Max to the fixed point type for the Mazda 5. Some savings from buying a new setup entirely. I took the risk the bars' length might be an issue - turned out okay.
*** In changing the roof rack from one car to another, make sure to buy 4 total of the measuring strips for the roof racks (#RRM641). I didn't think to buy these until I put the rack on and heard whistling at high speed.
I ordered the Rhino Rack for my 2017 Mazda 3 hatchback. The first thing I was concerned about was if the rack would interfere with opening my moon roof but that's not an issue. However, the rack does whistle pretty loud with the moon roof open at high speeds but that would happen with any roof rack.
For my car, the fixed mounting points on the roof are not accessible with the normal molding strips on the roof. So I had to order new Mazda molding strips with openings that provide access to the roof mounting points. You'll have to research which ones to get for your car. But, luckily, they're not expensive and are easy to install.
Ok, now for the Rhino Rack. I'm fairly handy and have installed roof racks before and the whole install took me about 2 hours. But it wasn't totally straightforward. The directions included in the box were for clamping a rack to the door openings and not for screwing the rack mounts into the fixed points on the roof. So they were not very helpful for my car. In addition, the towers were set up for the clamping arms, so I had to knock that hardware out of the tower arms and install the hardware for screwing down on the roof mounting points.
Also missing from the instructions were the spacing measurements for the roof rack. So I had to go to Rhino Rack's web site and search for the spec sheet for my car to find the measurements. The good news is that those measurements were dead on when I went to screw the rack onto the roof.
What really saved me was watching the etrailer install video for the Mazda 3 (that video was for an older Mazda 3 but the instructions worked fine for my 2017). That will show you how to do it. Once installed, the rack was sturdy and looked great.
I've since installed two Rocky Mounts bike carriers and they are awesome. Although, the forward tilt of the front cross bar (fault of the car's design not the rack) made the install a little tricky and I had to tighten down the bike rack clamp unevenly back-to-front to get it to work. Just thought I would mention for anyone planning on carrying bikes.
Fairly easy installation. Read the instructions thoroughly before hand and get familiar with the parts. Take care when installing mounting studs onto car itself so as not to strip or cross thread them. Once installed they look great.
Rhino Racks definitely has it dialed. My 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander GT with bare roof/fixing points. I'm not the brightest star in the night but the instructions were spot on. It's a rugged yet aero bar set up. The feet anchor securely in the fixing points. Did a quick drive and at 62mph there was a noticeable low rushing noise. No big. When the ski box goes on it's going to break up the airflow.

The Rhino Roof Rack has worked out brilliantly. I have attached the Thule Hulavator system to it and carry my kayaks on it. I highly recommend this rack.
