Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS3 Max LED combo Pod Light with bracket. This three inch LED combo pod light's gonna be great for seeing near or far. It's gonna give you bright light and reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. As you can see, I do have the power turned on, try not to blind you there. And I also have the bracket installed to this light just to show you what that is gonna look like, when you have that bracket installed.

You're gonna receive the hardware that you're going to need to install this bracket and light virtually anywhere on your vehicle. And you're also gonna receive hardware to install the light into the bracket. And what's nice about using the light with the bracket is you're gonna be able to adjust the angle of that light virtually anywhere that's gonna work best for you. And once you have that angle, just tighten down that light inside the bracket with the hardware on either side. I do have one of the brackets here when it's not installed.

So this is constructed of durable aluminum, so this is gonna hold up really well for you. You're not gonna have to worry about corrosion or anything like that, so very durable, very long lasting. I'm gonna turn my studio lights off here and go out for a wider view, just so you can get a better demonstration of what this light is gonna look like in low light or dark conditions. But I'm gonna go ahead and shine the light on the wall behind me, just so you can see that beam, that combo beam is going to be a mix between a driving beam and a flood beam. So that means this light is gonna be great for a general all around use and this light has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin.

So that cool white color is gonna match most of your factory LED lights. It's a very crisp color, so it's really gonna do a great job of giving you that additional visibility. Now, this does have a raw lumen rating of 7,920 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 3,500 lumens. And this does have a peak beam intensity of 35,100 candela. So in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction.

Lumen ratings or just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. Before a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides information that you can find. This light does have a power draw of three amps, and this slide is designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics, TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't real efficient in focusing all that light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and then focuses all that light forward very efficiently. And instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into this lens surface. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some of that light. You can actually lose up to 10% of that light just from a shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're not gonna lose efficiency, but actually gain some efficiency. Now, this does include the integrated industry standard Deutsche style connector, and I do happen to have a pigtail here with that Deutsche style connector. So that's gonna plug into the back of the light. As you can see, that current pigtail is doing to supply power to my light. And while we're looking at the back of the light, hopefully you can see right here we have a breather patch and that's going to prevent any moisture buildup in the light and then heat sinks on the back housing here. They're gonna do a great job of dissipating the heat quickly to prolong the life of this light. Now, this light has been built with high intensity LED chips and it does feature a durable powder coated aluminum construction, that heavy duty construction is going to do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion and vibration and testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And a fun fact biodynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled this slide right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Let's talk measurements, looking at the overall width from end-to-end, we're sitting pretty close to three and a quarter inches wide. That's gonna be the same measurement for our height, but when you add that bracket, that's going to increase it from top to bottom to about three and three quarters inches tall. When we're talking about the depth here from the front of the light all the way to the end of our heat sinks, it's gonna be pretty close to two and three eighths inches deep. Now, this light does draw high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you are not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, it is highly recommended that you use wiring that's 16 gauge or larger to ensure safe operation.
