Video Transcript for Pro Series Anti Rattle Device Review

Hey everybody, Zack here at, and today we're going to be taking a look at an anti-rattle device from Pro Series. This is going to work with inch and a quarter accessories. So this just slides around the shank of your accessory, whether it' a cargo carrier, a bike rack, or a ball mount, and you just tighten down this bolt around the receiver tube of your hitch, and it gives you a nice snug fit. So I'm sure you're familiar with the movement you get out of your accessories. This one's not as bad as some, but you'll get that shifting around of your items or that clinking noise that's a little unnerving whenever you're hauling a trailer, and this does a good job of cutting that down. So it's going to work with most inch and a quarter accessories as long as you don't have any other items on the shank that would interfere with that. When it comes to bike racks, a lot of bike racks come with an anti -rattle device built into them.

Usually it's just a threaded pin that replaces a pin and clip. This will still work with a lot of those. I think it adds a little bit more security to it because not all of those are going to completely eliminate. Maybe it'll do side to side, but not the up and down movement. This allows you to be a little bit more versatile with that and get you a nice snug fit. Now, one of the most useful ways I think for this is putting it on a cargo carrier.

We took this out on our test course with about 200 pounds on it, and it was moving around. So we weren't going at highway speeds, but we we're hitting some speed bumps, and did a little bit of a slalom course, and it moved around a decent amount. And you can see here, even with nothing in it, it's moving around. It's pretty tight fitting in that hitch, so we're not going to get a lot of play compared to some other ones that are out there. But if we just put this on there, it's going to take a lot off.

So to get this installed, I'm just going to take this out of my hitch. To get this installed, we just slide it over our shank of our item that we're installing, and you can put this on either side of that. You want to make sure that this smooth side is facing away from your hitch because this is what's going to grab onto our hitch. And I've determined that I can't mount mine here today on top or the bottom due to the bumper and the way the collar on the hitch sits, so I'm going to Mount mine on the side. And I'm just going to slide it down, and then I have that bolt and jam nut already started. We'll get a couple threads in place, and then I'll just let that rest, and I'll get this put back in place. And once you get that in place, we can slide this over the collar of our hitch.

The directions will tell you to put that on first and then put in your item, but I found that you can do a both ways, but for me, I had a harder time getting my pin and clip in place when this was in place. So I'll put it on second, the way we just showed you. And then we can come back and tighten this up with a 9/16 socket, and then we can put that jam nut down. Let me do it a little bit more. Now you can use an 11/16 to tighten that jam nut down. You don't need to be really aggressive with tightening it down. You just want it to be snug to make sure that doesn't back out. So with that tightened down, you can see there is a little bit of shaking there. That right there is in the cargo carrier. So that's not the shank. You can see there's tiny bit there, a little bit of up and down, but not as much as we had before. So let's put that weight back in here, and let's go back out, and let's see how well it does. So, as you can see, it took some of that play out of there. If you have the option to have the threaded anti-rattle bolt style, instead, I prefer that, but with some of the solid shanks, you can't really do that. So this does a good job of taking that play out, whether it's a cargo carrier or a ball mount, or if you do have one of those bike racks that doesn't have a threaded pin, this is going to be a really simple cost-effective way to take some of that movement out of the back of your accessory. But that's going to do it for our look at the Pro Series anti-rattle device.

I just mounted this on my Outback to stabilize an older 1 1/4 inch rack. This thing is expensive compared to some cheaper options BUT its ROCK solid for my comfort level. Now this picture shows what its TEMPORARY as Rocky Mount shipped me a 2 inch receiver for an ordered 1 1/4 inch request. So my plan was to use this stabilizer on my rack directly but this will do for my trip to pick up my two Vado SL e bikes.

- 63090

It works. The Brophy hitch adapter has a little upsweep part on it, so the anti-rattle part sits at an angle, just slightly (see pics). Due to room constraints on Mazda 3 hatch, I put the bolt on the bottom, instead of the top. I also uograded to a grade 8 zinc coated bolt, for strength and rust. I did not use the lock nut, instead I used blue locktite. It is very stable, and does not wiggle at all. Shipping was fast!

- 63090

Completely useless! The weld holding the nut on occluded the hole for the bolt, therefore the bolt could not be threaded into the device. When I tried to thread the bolt from the underside of the device to see if this would fix the problem, the bolt snapped off.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. The anti rattle device does have a 1 year warranty.

Like most say, it's ok. Helps a bit but still a bit of play and after paying couple $$$ on hitch from them plus this and still play well I still need straps to hold down my ebike comfortably.

- 63090

I have ordered 3 hitches for Etrailer; these guys are the best. My last hitch was a Curt hitch, the only one that would fit my car; unfortunately the tolerances are way loose and to make it work I had to get this Anti-rattle device. This device works ok but it is a pain to have to get down on my knees to secure and tighten the thing down - better than nothing. Buy a Draw Tight hitch if you can & you won't have to deal with this. The people at etrailer are excellent with customer service, some of the best I have ever encountered. They will do whatever it takes to make a satisfied customer!

- 63090

Perfect fit for the 1 1/4" to 2" hitch adapter that I use on my 2013 Passat for my 2" Küat Enve bike rack! No more hitch play!

- 63090

Was a little skeptical before buying this piece but once I used it I was glad I bought it. Pretty much elminated the noise coming from the ball mount while towing. A little more to do when you hitch up but worth the time for the decrease in noise.

- 63090

I have been pleased with the ability to reduce the noise and rattle the device provides. In my application, it meets the description very well and I have no complaints. Some recommendations from my use of the device: keep a good box-end wrench or socket with your trailer that allows you to tighten the device very tight (if not very tight, it will loosen and not work); I use WD40 silicon spray on the bolt each time I install it; if you plan to take this on and off like I do, plan to take the 2 minutes and install this device each time you pull your trailer, it's worth the time.

- 63090

This product seem to work great after it was installed, however I did have to change the lock nut that was provided. The first time I tightened the lock nut down it totally stripped using very little force. After changing the stripped lock nut with one I had it worked out great without any further issues. The new lock nut tightened down just fine and I'm now very happy with the result of my installation, I'm now hearing little to no rattle. Again, the bolt held up just fine, but the lock nut seem to be made of a very cheap and weak tempered metal.

- 63090

etrailer fulfilled order quickly. Product is sturdy and well made. Paint is excellent. Product works as advertised. I do think that they should put a plat at the end of the locking bolt to prevent marks on the car hitch

- 63090

Welding was poorly done. After 30 minutes of trying I am unable to get the screw through the painted nut. Welding sticks were left on the inside of nut as well as on the frame. Even the nut is off the hole on the frame by at least 1 mm preventing the screw to go through. A giant weld was left on the inside corner so even if the screw went though, the unit would not sit tight. I called for assistance. After waiting 2 different sessions of 10 minutes, I gave up. I would like a new one. This one should have never made it out the door.

The anti-Rattle device is what I have been looking for sometime. Took me a few minutes to install on my trike motorcycle where I have a 3 flag mount. The device has eliminated the play I used to have in the mount.

The anti-Rattle hitch works real good for me, no problems whatsoever

Worked well on my Ford Transit Wagon to tighten up a Rocky Mounts bike rack. But the instructions could be better. You do not need to drill any holes in the receiver hitch. Just wiggle the insert or stinger as you tighten the anti wiggle flange, but don’t over tighten the screw.

- 63090

The bike racki n our car, was VERY wobbly...untilI installed this product that I bought from The service and shipping was outstanding, and within a few minutes, my bike rack much more solid, than I expected... HIGHLY recommended !!!

- 63090

Doesn't work. If you tighten the bolt down enough to work the bolt strips. If it had two bolts, maybe it would work better, who knows.

- 63090

Nice item, works as advertised

- 63090

Keeps the rattle down, but keeper bolt must be cranked tight.

- 63090

Finally found a anti-rattle device which fits both of my vehicles. Turn around time from order to receipt was very fast. Thanks Etrailer.

- 63090

Everything else I got works amazingly. However, this product when trying to tighten the bolt stripped the bolt. Thus making it unusable.

- 63090

It bents after 2 months, bent where the bolt is mounted. I have to weld my .
