Features to know about

Keeps Every Trailer Level: 6" Drop or 7" Rise

Switching between trailers with different coupler heights is where the Weigh Safe 180 Pro Hitch shines. Its adjustable platform offers up to a 6" drop or 7" rise in 1" increments, so you can fine-tune your setup for level towing every time. Keeping the trailer level means steadier handling, better braking, and less wear on tires and suspension.

Tows Big Loads with Confidence: 22,000 lbs GTW

When you’re hauling serious weight, you want gear that’s up to the task. The 180 Pro’s high-strength steel build is rated for 22,000 lbs gross towing weight with the 2-5/16" ball, and 10,000 lbs with the 2" ball. The solid shank fits a 2-1/2" receiver and stays rigid even under heavy load, giving you peace of mind when towing large campers, boats, or equipment trailers.

Switches Between Ball Sizes Fast: Dual-Ball Platform

Towing different trailers doesn’t have to mean swapping hardware. The dual-ball setup—one 2" and one 2-5/16"—sits on a single platform that flips in seconds. Just pull the dual pins, flip the platform to the size you need, slide it back into place, and secure it again. No hunting for spare parts or tools when you’re ready to hook up and go.

Stows Cleanly When Not in Use: Flip-Under Design

Once you’re done towing, flip the entire ball platform under the hitch to keep it out of your way. The stowable design keeps your shins safe and your truck’s rear clean without having to remove the mount. Reinsert the dual pins to secure it for travel—no need to store bulky parts in the bed or garage.

Adds Flexibility for Accessories: Built-In Receiver

The built-in 2" receiver on the front of the hitch opens up extra options when you’re not towing a trailer. Pop out the included rubber plug and mount a bike rack or cargo carrier right on it. It’s a simple way to make use of your hitch without uninstalling your ball mount or juggling extra hardware.

Video Transcript for Review of Weigh Safe Steel 180 Hitch - WS83RR

Hello, neighbors. Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Weigh Safe steel 180 PRO drop hitch for a 2 /12 inch by 2 1/2 inch shank. Now folks, you're gonna get two balls on this unit. The 10,000 pound one is rated at, the two inch rather is rated 10,000 pounds while the 2 5/16 inch ball is rated at 22,000 pounds because this is all a steel unit. Now the max tongue weight is 2,200 pounds.

And I wanna zoom in here and show you some quick dimensions or give you some rather. From the center of the hitch pin ball to the center of this first pin hole is eight inches on center, and if you go to the farthest hole away, it's 9 1/8 inches on center. Now from the back of the shank to the center of this first hole from the back, it is about 2 3/8 inches on center, while the back of the shank to the center of this pin hole is 3 1/2 inches. Now you will need a 5/8 inch pin that's sold separately to complete the connection point here on your tow vehicle. If you don't have one or you need a locking one even, we sell those separately here at etrailer.com.

Now the whole unit here is a nice powder coated carbon steel construction. It's super hardened, it's super durable, it's V5 and J684-certified. As far as the locking part, the rubber cover here just pops off. That's gonna keep dirt, debris, and grime out of the keyhole. You get two tubular keys.

You simply put it in and unlock it and that will allow you to pull this dual pin out. Now that's a hardened steel construction as well. It's very heavy, no one's gonna break into that. And right now we got the two inch hitch ball. So we need to go to the 2 5/16 let's say, simply pop the head unit up and off and then simply turn it over 180 degrees and pop it right back in place.

Now the lock pin is gonna be on my side since we did swap things over, and let's actually go up one more so it's level a little bit better. And again, you simply put this in place, lock it back in place and then you are good to go with your 2 5/16 inch ball. And then the same thing, the dust cover just simply pops over there protecting everything from dirt, grime, debris, that kind of stuff. So again, took me what, 20, 30 seconds at tops to swap that over. So very simple to use. You also get a nice rubber plug here in the front. So this is a very shallow insert here. From the outside to the inside is 4 1/2 inches until I hit the front face of this unit. And the center of that hole to the outside is 1 1/4 inches on center from that hole out. So again, 1 1/4 inches on center. Now you could potentially put a hitch accessory in there, but they recommend only hitch accessories, and that is a two inch by two inch accessory hole. And again, they recommend just accessories. You're not supposed to be putting another tow ball in there, anything like that, it's not rated for that. So maybe a bike rack or something like that would be fine, but again, you are kind of limited to the depth here as far as how deep you can go. So just keep that in mind. Again, you get a nice rubber plug here to keep everything in place, keep dirt and stuff out of there as well. Well folks, I think that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look at the Weigh Safe steel 180 PRO. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

great hitch - going to order a second o ne

It is exactly what is was described as. I have a 2010 GM Canyon and my new trailer is setup for off road use. My existing hitch made it so I had a lot of tongue weight, this weigh safe hitch allows me to get more balanced with the ability to flip it and get correct height for whatever I am hauling behind me

Exactly what I ordered

by:

4 stars due to the rattle of the lower part where the balls are. Could have held a tighter fit to stop this. Overall it looks great and should work just fine when loaded.

by:

Great solid hitch. Love the fact there’s an extra spot where I can attach my bike rack to it without having to swap out the hitch.

This drop hitch is super easy to use and the dual locks with same keys for the hitch lock and ball lock should be a industry standard. Works perfect 2500HD Chevy using my enclosed trailer.

  • Which Weigh Safe Ball Mounts Are Made In America?
Thanks for reaching out Mike! I spoke to Weigh Safe and only their Cerakote aluminum ball mounts are made in the USA. All other steel and aluminum ball mounts, including the steel 180 PRO models, are manufactured overseas. If you wanted an American made option from them that matches the rise and drop of the # WS83RR you were looking at, you will want the Weigh Safe 180 Hitch 2-Ball Mount for 2.5" Hitch - 6" Drop/7" Rise - 18.5K - Cerakote # WS72VR. It does have a lower capacity of 18,500...
