Now this is basically a gas strut, so think of it as like the small hydraulic arm that's going to help lift and hold things open smoothly. This is designed to make opening and closing things like your RV doors, storage compartments, truck caps, or even lift up beds, a whole lot easier and safer. What this does is give you a controlled lifting force so when you open something, it doesn't just swing up or drop down suddenly.
Instead, it's gonna open smoothly and stay supported. And when you close it, it's gonna come down in a controlled way. That's also gonna help prevent slamming, which is great for safety and for protecting whatever this is attached to. So this is rated at ten pounds of force. And let me go ahead and get my tape measure here.
And I just wanna measure center of post to center of post. This is gonna be a ball socket installation, so center to center, as I hope you can see, 20 inches long when it's extended like this. So this is going to be a good fit for medium sized applications, and the compact design means that it can fit into tighter, more hidden spaces without being in the way. We replaced the gas struts on the rv king size bed that came with our 5th wheel with these because after we upgraded the mattress the original ones couldn't support the weight. These are working much better and support the weight of the bed when lifted up with no problemo. They were very easy to swap out from the original ones also.
