Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2019 Honda Odyssey

Ryan: Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2019 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter. So right away, I have our new PTC Filter and I just pulled out our original filter. And I'm doing this just to kind of give us a side-by-side comparison. So you can see that they're almost identical, kind of give you that peace of mind knowing it's going to fit properly and work the way it should.

And if we take a look at our factory one, even after a short amount of time, you can see it gets pretty dirty. Kind of open up the pleats, you can see all that leaf material and debris, and it does a pretty good job of catching stuff. Now, the original one has kind of a charcoal finish, so that's why it does look a little darker, but I just thought that was worth mentioning.Now, these cabin filters are something a lot of people don't really think about. It's something you kind of forget about, but it's actually a pretty important component to your HVAC system. Kind of just like the filter at your house, you want to keep them changed.

So that way, you get clean and fresh air, and it's going to reduce that strain or wear and tear on your HVAC system. So for example, when you pop that new, clean filter in there, it's going to do a great job of keeping all that debris out. A lot of times, a dirty filter can kind of get smelly too. And I'm sure you guys have been in a car where you turn the AC on and kind of get that weird smell. Usually, that's because of a dirty cabin air filter.

So new ones can eliminate that and not to mention, it's going to do a great job of catching allergens. So for those of you that have real bad allergies during that season, this is really going to help catch those and make life a little bit easier for you.Now, as far as the installation goes, it is super easy, just about anyone can do it. So there's really no reason to pay a mechanic to do it for you. Really, all it entails is opening up your glove box, removing a little door and swapping the filter out. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and do that together now.

To begin our install, we're going to need to remove our old cabin air filter. In our case, it's located behind our glove box, so we're going to have to pop that out. It's pretty straightforward. Open it up. A lot of times it helps to take any stuff out of here, just makes it a little easier. And what you're going to do is simply just squeeze the edges in. That will lower the box, and now we should be able to get to the trap door inside. This is the door here and it's just held in place by a clipper, too. One thing I want to point out is there's going to be some lettering there and some arrows, it's going to say air flow. You want to remember that orientation before you pop that out.So we'll go ahead and just grab our door. And it looks like there's going to be a clip on each side, got to pull that out. So here we can kind of see those clips. So you're going to come in from behind like this, pry them out, and then you're able to pull off our door. So there's our filter. Again, ours does have an air flow indicator, so try to remember that before you pull it out. This just slides right out. We'll set this off to the side. Then we'll simply just grab our new PTC Filter and re-install it. Make sure you orient the arrows in that correct position. This just slides in. Then we're just going to take our little trap door there and that's just going to snap back into place. That'll finish up our look at and our installation of the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2019 Honda Odyssey.
