Reese 5th Wheel Hitch Rails - RP56005-53

  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

Installation was good and very happy. Thank you

by:

I did not use this item in my institution and was returned because I had the bed replaced with a flat bed and they used the factory placed holes in their insulation. Designed new attachment plates and had them fabricated in a local machine shop, attached using 3 half inch harder bolts each and all is working well.

by:

I am delighted with my 5th wheel hitch, it works great
Thank You.

Quick delivery which I found helpful to track through the website on its journey to me. This model is heavy, strong, and I feel confident it will last for the life of my truck. The assembling videos give terrific step by step instructions that even someone like me can use.

I was expecting the frame brackets to attach to frame in stronger manner I will probably get some more hardware to make it attach a little better/stronger

Upgraded my truck to a 2019 F250 Superduty. Received my new rail kit and mounting brackets. Fits perfect!

by:

This did not fit my truck right. Front brackets fit fine. The rear brackets lined up with all the holes but the chassis strap brackets are wrong. The spacers are also too short. Contacted e trailer. They checked inventory said their boxes were all wrong also. They contacted the mfg and i waited a month only to get a box of bolts and spacers and no straps. Had to have some fabbed locally. This is for my 2024 silverado 2500 custom.

by:

Excellent parts and easy to install, had no problem at all mounting everything to my F-250 8' bed.

by:

Instructions not clear enough/descriptive. Took 4 hours for my mechanic to install. would have been much simpler to loosen and lift box instead of taking everything apart as per instructions. Product seems good will know how it works after hitching up trailer.

by:

Five hours to install; which included a half hour searching for the key to the padlock on my spare. E-Trailer linked me to an installation video which really helped. I took my time and measured three times before I drilled the bed. Installation is a lot easier with someone to hold the bolts from the top. I fabricated mounting brackets on my last truck, but these were worth the money and I didn't have to drill the frame! Good design and straight-forward installation. My only issue was the video didn't show one bolt install that secured the driver's side rear bracket to the bottom of the frame. I was going off the video only and wasn't using the written instructions. Make sure you go step by step using both. Also, some parts are clearly for a different application so there will be a few parts left over. My experience with e-trailer was awesome.

We ordered a bracket kit for our new 2017 F350. It was needed to install our Reese fifth wheel. which we use to pull our RV. Product was on back order by manufacturer, however Delisa at Etrailer diligently kept us very informed with updates & shipping status. My husband & son were able to install in a couple of hours. Looks great, outstanding craftsmanship & over exceeded our expectations! We would highly recommend!!!!!

by:

Very happy how soon the product I ordered was at my door step. 3 days after I ordered it. Put the base to my 5th wheel on my 2017 250 diesel sd took me around 5 hrs, would have been faster with 2 people. The base fit my husky 16k prefect when I done torquing all the bolts. Going to use this hitch to pull my 29.5 Durango EZ 1500.

by:

Customer service was excellent she did extensive research on all available products until she found the best fit for my vehicle. They also made sure the package was shipped out right away and I received it 2 days earlier than expected

by:

They fit truck just like they were supposed too. Couple hr install with having to remove spare tire and heat shields to get access to bolt locations. Been supporting fifth wheel through thousands of miles. Thanks for helping me find right product for my truck!

by:

Installing 2017 5th wheel brackets and rails . Thankyou for your service in sending me the right parts for my F250 . Took about 4 hrs to install and all holes were perfect in the side brackets . Just had to drill for the rail. I’d recommend your service...

by:

Used it 3 times so far, does what it’s supposed to, the brackets fit the frame very good. Very happy with the setup.

by:

Very easy to install. Measure twice, drill once. I used every piece of galvanic corrosion tape to protect the aluminum bed in the kit, probably could have used a little more. Even though I painted the edge of the holes after drilling, maybe some sort of insulator could be used there also.

by:

What an interesting product to install. The mounting to the frame is easy. Getting the bolts through the bed and putting the nuts and washers on the bottom take a lot of patience. There is not a lot of room for your hands to fit between the bed and the frame. I took my spare tire down and I was able to sit under my truck that helped a lot.

  • Rail Position for 5th Wheel Custom Install Kit # RP56005-53 on a 2004 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Short Bed
According to the installation instructions which I have linked for you, from the rear edge of the truck bed (not the tailgate) to the rear edge of the nearest rail should be 31-15/16 inches on short and long beds for installation kit # RP56005-53 on a 2004 Ford F-250. This will put the center line of the hitch approximately 2-15/16 inches forward of the center of the rear axle.

They will both fit on your 2004 Ford F-250 as well, the main difference is just the length of the base rails. The kit # RP50082-58 uses more standard rails, while the kit # RP56005-53 uses extended-length rails. Either one of these base rail kits will work well for your application. I...

  • Comparing Above Bed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kits for a 2008 Ford F-350 Long Bed
For above the bed 5th wheel rail kits for your 2008 Ford F-350 long bed it boils down to 3 possible categories: custom, semi-custom, and universal. The main difference between these is the amount of drilling into the truck frame required for installation. Custom kits generally require no frame drilling at all. Semi-custom kits will require some drilling. And universal kits require the most drilling. Because custom kits do not require drilling into the frame (for most options) they also...

  • Best Custom Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Base Rail Installation Kit for 2010 Ford F-350
The best and easiest to install in your 2010 Ford F-350 is the outboard bracket kit # RP56005-53. The more economical custom option is # RP50082-58. Both kits are dramatically faster and easier to install than a universal kit. The universal bracket kit, # RP30035, requires a lot more drilling but is obviously the most economical choice. The Reese Select Plus # RP30928 uses industry standard rails.

To measure the length of your truck bed, measure from the front of the bed rearward to the rear edge of the bed (not the end of the tailgate). If you have the 6-1/2 foot bed, you will need to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch to provide additional clearance between the front of the trailer and the rear of the cab during low speed maneuvering.
