Recommended AC Replacement For A 2004 Fleetwood Prowler Regal AX6 365BSQS 5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 02/24/2025 | Published 02/23/2025

Question:

I’m looking for a replacement roof mounted air conditioner for my 2004 Fleetwood Regal ax6 365bsqs that runs in the current ceiling ducts. Also looking to see if you sell a thermostat that can connect to my wifi so I can remotely control the unit. My camper is permanently parked. Thanks for any recommendations you make. There is currently only 1 ac unit and it is a 50A connection to the camper

Hey Victor,

If you're just wanting to swap out only the rooftop unit the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup # FR42PV would be a good option. That being said the RV industry was hit with new regulations for air conditioners so we're in a transitional phase where all equipment made before the regulations won't be compatible with any new equipment. If your air distribution box (ADB) or controller went out a year from now you'd have to make sure you bought the correct replacement, which will eventually be phased out so it's a bit of a gamble.

Since the cost really isn't that much more to replace the rooftop unit and ADB I recommend just swapping over now to make your live easier down the road. The Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Black # FR39TD or white # FR99TD would be the best replacement. These come with a physical remote so that you can control the AC remotely. I've installed multiple AC systems before and these are by far the quietest running systems I've ever seen. These units are rated for 18,000btu's so it would also do a better job of cooling your 5th wheel, especially since you're only running one unit.

The only drawback I currently see with the Furrion Chill Cube is that they're still working on a wire harness to connect to the furnace, but it's supposed to be available at the end of March 2025 and would plug into the harness in the ADB. If you are living in the camper full-time you would need to purchase an different aftermarket thermostat to tie into the furnace to get you by until the harness is available. At this time we're currently only offer model-specific thermostats and don't offer a multi-compatible thermostat that could connect to wifi.

I've attached a short video below where I'll walk you through the installation process so you can get a better idea of what this would require. If you still have questions or want to discuss other options then let me know in the comments below.
