Can The etrailer Portable Solar Panel e62PR Be Placed Behind A Windshield?

want to add a portable 100w solar pnl to chRGE my rv in storage that connects to my 30 controller in rv. Thinking of putting pnl in the windsheild and then run cabloes to charge conntroller.

Hello Roger, thanks for reaching out. The etrailer Portable Solar Panel - 100 Watt # e62PR can certainly be used for keeping your RV batteries topped off during the winter. If the panel is behind the windshield it will decrease the efficiency though. Usually you will see a drop of about 50% in these situations. Also, you will want to make sure the RV is parked at an angle where the windshield gets a decent amount of direct sun during the day, otherwise it won't give you much of a charge. Ideally this panel would be placed outside directly in the sun. So will it work behind a windshield? Yes. Will the performance suffer because of this placement? Absolutely.
