Troubleshooting Non-Working Trailer Wire Harness For A 2011 Nissan Murano
Question:
I have a 2011 nissian murano. recenty trailer lights quit working. I took my tester light and checked each pin , from the car , for power as I turned on lights /signals etc. I even used a ground source from a motorcycle battery so i knew getting a good ground was not an issue. next i checked inline fuse on harness,it was good . Then I checked 30 amp trailer fuse , it was good. Ok so maybe wires are broke where hatch closes on wires to plug . I then cut the wire ,4 wires that supply plug. striped them back and checked for power ,still nothing. geeeez !!Next I took apart side compartment to find a sealed box that wires from lights went into and trailer wires came out of . I then took my tester and hooked ground to motorcycle battery and took point of tester and pushed it into the wires going into this box , yes had lights on and a turn signal . Nothing !! I put everything back together and hear I am ready to take it somewhere . Any thoughts ? Is their some electric component in tail light that would do this .They have worked for many years without any trouble . thanks

It sounds like the converter box on your trailer wire harness is bad and you harness just needs to be replaced. This is pretty normal over time so before you waste money having someone else retest everything and then charge you for a new harness you can just order one yourself.
