We have a few options for a 2000 Ford Ranger 6' Stepside bed, which I've attached a link to below. If I personally had to choose between the options available I would choose the Access TonnoSport # A22010139 you were already looking at. One of the installers here, Joe, has this cover on his Ranger and loves it. This style will sit inside the bedrails and clamp to the inner lip for an easy installation.
The simple lever release to unlatch the cover is easy to use and will give you a bit of security when you tailgate is locked. The EZ-Dial will help tension the vinyl to keep it nice and tight without requiring any tools. One rolled up the straps at the front of the bed will lock the rolled up cover in place to keep it secure while you haul larger items.
